Are you guys able to order the 840m graphics option on premier or retail yet? I can't find any retail ones that list that as an option. If there was I would be super tempted to order one already...

We should probably move E7450 chatter to a new thread. Anyone want to start one?

Has anyone updated to BIOS A12 (released in December) on the E7440? I had some serious keystroke repeating problems on A11 and I'm hoping it fixes that.

I am currently experiencing issues with my pointstick which is that a click occurs without my intention. Not always, but sometimes if I leave the cursor in one spot for some time, it just clicks - be it a tab on the IE or an icon whatever. Super annoying! Could I possibly fix this?

I moved to the A12 BIOS several weeks ago.

There were no adverse effects that I have noticed and the BIOS release notes suggest that a few bugs have been fixed.

Yes i did it a few weeks ago, and i didn't notice any problem. But it was just an upgrade to get the last version, there wasn't any problem with my configuration before that.

Thanks for the feedback! The key repeating (debouncing) problem is only on Linux so far. I'll post again in a few more days when I will know whether it's fixed or not in the A12 BIOS.

Turn off tap to click for the pointing stick in the Dell touchpad control in the control panel/mouse.

I am finally having to replace my beloved e4300 and am pretty sure I want either the e7240 or the e7440. Has this 64-page thread led to any sort of consensus on:
    e7240 vs e7440?
    Necessity of i7 over i5?
    16GB instead of 8GB RAM?
    Touchscreen?
Overall recommendation of either model compared to similarly priced laptops?

Looks like I could get an i5 8gb RAM with 3 year warranty on ebay -- that seems like a pretty great deal, right?

If you can wait a month or two you should be able to get one from dell outlet for $700 to $900 for an i7 with SSD. Many of the ones on ebay do not come with warranty. (they state 3 year but they do not have the original owner info to be able to transfer the warranty to you. Dell will not honor warranty if the system is not registered in your name in their database).
