What do you have set in your BIOS right now? It is set with a custom range? Also, what BIOS version do you have? I have A08, but I know the newest is A10, and maybe something changed there. I will also double-check how mine charges by plugging in the charger somewhere > 90% and see if I notice the same behavior.

Just a warning regarding the batteries for E7440 - some come with only a designed capacity of 45 Whr vs 47 Whr. You can always ask Dell for a replacement, but they may give you only a 45 Whr one, and if that has some wear on it already, then you're better off keeping the original one. Of course, I agree with you that we shouldn't expect to see so much wear from the start.

Quick question, ever since I installed my 1TB WD drive, I get this pop up with the drives listed and it looks like some kind of RAID thing. I went into the BIOS and flipped it over to AHCI, which gets rid of the RAID pop up, but it bluescreens shortly after. Do I have to switch it over to AHCI then install the OS so it won't blue screen? Thanks.

If it is the original Dell installation of Windows then it will be pre-configured for all the SATA options offered in the BIOS (that's my theory since I had no horrible side-effects from changing the setting from RAID to AHCI. However, if it's a normal DIY Windows installation then it will be configured only for the SATA mode that Windows encountered during installation.

There's a work-around for the BSOD by installing the appropriate AHCI driver and possibly some extra registry entries before changing the setting in the BIOS. I've got a distant recollection of the same issue occurring some years ago with my E6400 (it's here). Maybe this thread gives the right up-to-date guidance. If not, put "change sata mode after windows installation" into your favorite search engine.

Hi guys , I have read all the thread and i still have a question :)

Can anyone confirm that the E7240 can work with 2 msata SSD configuration. I know that the WWAN socket will boot the msata and some people confirmed that they moved the original SSD into this WWAN socket and it booted fine. I can't see anyone confirming that the device worked with him with 2 msata SSD.

I saw someone saying that it wasn't recognized in the bios and didn't show in Windows but when he moved this SSD into the original slot 2 msata it worked fine.

Can anyone have the 2 msata configuration working together confirm that and please specify the SSD model and the people who didn't work for them did you figure out why yet ?

    Thanks a lot guys.

yes they work in both slots. I think once moved it and it didn't work because I may have disabled the slot in the bios but with everything enabled both were detected as I clonezilla'd one drive to have a perfect clone of it.

Just google windows ahci fix. Instal fix from ms site, restart, then restart once again to switch to ahci in bios.

The dell chat rep said that both 1080p screen are NOT IPS... can I assume he doesn't know what he is talking about?

He might be correct because IPS is a process used by one manufacturer.

I think my AUO panel is AHVA based on the monitor data provided by the Moninfo program. What is AHVA? See AUO's description. Whatever it is, contrast and viewing angles are good although I'd prefer if the maximum brightness was a bit more (but I'm comparing with Samsung notebooks with 400 nit panels).

    hwinfo64 says

Monitor Name: LG Philips [Unknown Model: LGD0408]
    Monitor Name (Manuf): 125WF1 [DELL P/N: PY6P2]

not sure if it's tn or ips but the viewing angles are very good on mine.

Notebookcheck says it is IPS although that could be based on the quality of the display rather than technical knowledge. This LG page refers to AH-IPS technology which, I presume, is a variation of IPS. There's some more to read here.
