Hi all, just a quick info... i have updated the original dell 5570 mobile broadband to sierra mc7710... everything is fine, but i have a problem with GPS areal in Dell E7440. The MC7710 have all the GSM/GPS connectors ( 3 of them ) soldered on the card same size, but the GPS areal connector on dell e7440 is smaller than the other 2, so cant connect the areal in to MC7710 gps... any help?

I have the e7240 fhd touch and it doesn't feel like 4lbs. Does anyone have an accurate scale to weigh a FHD touch e7240?

I got the 1TB WD installed into the E7440 and it's working as planned. It's a bit loosey-goosey in there. Do they make some kind of caddy for it so it can secured to the chassis? The mSATA caddy wouldn't work, but it's pretty tight in there. I can't see it moving around much.

e7240 FHD touch with 45W battery weighing 3Lb and 6.4 oz on my postal scale.

PS: For comparison, FHD non-touch e7440 with 47W battery (and a 2.5" drive installed) coming out to 3Lb and 14.2 oz.

thanks a bunch, I haven't looked at the specs but it seems like Dell may have been optimistic in the weight department, the e7240 was touted as sub 3lbs? guess the touch adds 6.4 oz.

Yes the touch screen adds a surprising amount of weight to these units. I think it adds a good 8 ounces on the e7440. I'm still glad I got it though, as I'm using the W8.1 Metro interface more than I thought I would.

yes I've been a diehard thinkpad guy for some time. Still enjoying my e7240 working from the couch with wireless dock to 60" LED as my 2nd monitor. Only wish is a bit more powerful graphics. Any one do any light CAD or Solidworks on the e7240 or e7440?

finally took the time to see why the fan was running constantly. Took off the heat sink which doesn't look like copper like the usual thinkpads I'm used to. It's a matte metal but they globbed too much paste on the cpu die and put nothing on the iGPU chip. Fixed that, I'm running 3-4 degrees cel cooler much quieter.

does anyone know the weight of the 4 cell battery vs 3 cell on the e7240, also what is the slice battery part number? Will Dell 0HW079 GN752 e dock slice battery fit on an e7240?

Well I have been loving my e7440 for awhile now. Great laptop for all my uses.
Now, I think we are due for e7450 (and e7250).
They show up on a canadian dell page! with no details though.

Also the old roadmap posted back in feb says sometime around now for the refresh:
    http://i1-news.softpedia-static.com...ational-Series-Coming-in-Q3-2014-428276-2.jpg

I try to think what I would like in an updated model and I am drawing mostly blanks. Its nearly perfect!
-Better fitting dock station (E series dock works but clearly not designed around this laptop)
    -Broadwell CPU
-A second MSATA would be awesome so I can have cellular card along with MSATA HD
seriously I don't know what else I would change? You?

I would like to see the option of a dedicated video card with the touchscreen version.
