got a e7440 touch 1080p a week ago, in US.
just found it has an AUO panel, not LG IPS panel.
    AUO113D
dell is changing the panels to save a little bit ?

Is the display on the 7440 replaceable aftermarket from low res to the FHD, both touch and non touch?

    Thanks

And I just received one with the LG panel... The AUO is also IPS I believe but I saw other people saying they are not as bright. That may be a good thing for power consumption? Not sure.

Also my CTO unit (i7/256/16g/wwan/fhdtouch/securityfingerprint) doesn't seem to have keyboard flex, manufactured 2/5/14....? I'm usually pretty sensitive to it and it's no worse than any other E6xxx. Less flex than my E6220 which I'm migrating from.

The Samsung would be my choice.

The Dell drive would likely be a Lite On - mSATA SSD . If the Plextor is the same, it would also be a good choice.

I picked up the m500 240gb for my m4500. Solid drive, at least at sata2 speeds :)

AUO's a little bit dimmer, compared to LG.
i can confirmed another e7440 has AUO panel, looks like we're playing lottery again...

I'm shopping around for a new computer and strongly considering the E7240 with the 1080p screen.

Is the 4 cell battery worth it? Or have people been happy with the 3 cell? What type of runtime should I expect?

Any nagging issues people are struggling with? Anyone strongly recommend or disapprove of the E7240 vs another similar laptop?

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Based on my experience with the E6220, I would say that a 12.5" screen is too small. Have you considered the E7440?

I'm replacing an E6400 that I've had for 5.5 years. I like the idea of the smaller footprint and portability of the E7240, and I think I can handle the loss of 1.5" off the diagonal.

Is there any meaningful difference between the 7240 and 7440 other than screen size? I think they have the same components and ports, right?
