Has anyone update there 128GB Full Mini-Card Mobility Solid State Drive in a E7440 with a Samsung 840 EVO mSATA 1TB?
    No Bios or thickness problems?
I want to be absolutley sure this will work before I buy the Samsung.
Dell isn't very helpfull on this on.

Is it possible to replace (aftermarket) the 1366 x 768 panel with the 1080p panel? (both touch and non touch)

I can confirm that two drives are supported. I moved the Dell-supplied mSATA from the interposer to the mSATA/WAN and installed a 2 1/2" 7mm SSD in the drive bay. Moving the boot drive was seamless; no changes were required in the bios and the system booted normally.
However... the 2 1/2" SSD is now loose in the drive bay. Dell supplies the conventional HD with a cage to secure the drive in the bay, and if you get the E7440 with SSD, it will come with an interposer, and not the cage required to mount a 2 1/2" drive. From the dell community I found this part number for the cage: FCN4M don't know cost yet.
I don't think its going to hurt anything not having the cage, but it's not "right".

I have to agree. I just received my e7740 today and there is WAY too much flex in the keyboard. Disappointed in that but the rest of the laptop is great so far.

You need the metal cage / bracket only for 5mm HDDs/SSDs. I installed a 7mm HDD and there wouldn't even have been room for a cage. It's a snug fit.

In case anyone plans on installing a HDD in the 7440: As far as I know there are two 7mm drives available with 1TB (none is available with a higher capacity). The Western Digital Blue Slim (WD10SPCX) and the HGST Travelstar Z5K1000. I tried both, and I can ONLY recommend the Travelstar. The WD drive has such an annoying idle/parking/standby behavior, which I couldn't even entirely fix with the available tool WDIDLE3. Even after I set the idle time from 4 seconds (!) to 300 seconds, the drive would constantly spin down, which killed it's performance. One can read tons of complaints about WD drives in this respect. The Travelstar has none of that behavior, and it remains spinning constantly. I set the HDD standby/spindown time in the Windows energy settings to 5 minutes for all energy modes I use, and that way the Travelstar only spins up when I actually use it. It's an excellent drive and my setup works flawlessly.

You can get some Velcro tape and use it to create some "customized" spacers attached on the back or even the sides of the drive for a snugger fit (just use one side of the Velcro tape). Just a thought.

I've just got the e7440 with a Liteon mSATA 128GB in the interposer. I tried to move it to the mSATA/WAN bay, but it does not boot....
From the bios I see it in both positions (in the interposer as the primary drive, in the mSATA as a mini card device, but it does not boot.
It ssems that he cannot find the boot files as in empty drive.
    Suggestions??

I've ordered in Germany an E7440 without a WWAN card but with a display ready for WiGig. This version has the antenna wires for a WWAN card.
