It's a very small weight loss: The "from 1.93kg" in the datasheet should be compared with the "from 1.95kg in the E6400's datasheet". I never managed to work out how my E6400 got from that headline weight to the actual weight of 2.32kg.

    Hello all,

I just got a call from Wave (the company that makes the software that controls the fingerprint reader), asking me if I had already solved the problem I logged in with them -- the problem being that I couldn't make the fingerprint reader work with 64 bit and with Windows 7 biometric features (which was in reality a complaint of other forum users but not myself, my complaint is that it won't work for Firefox).

    So I'd like to ask:

    - does Wave Embassy Suite work in Windows 7 64-bit?
    - does the fingerprint reader integrate with Windows 7's biometric features, with or without the Wave software?

    Thanks!

I am having again the heating and throttling problem, I have the latest firmware. I was just doing a skype video call with only mozzilla open and everything was so slow, I was just trying to shut off the video but it wasnt' working. this was off battery but when I plugged in nothing really changed.
    anybody else still having problems?

yes, it "works" in win7x64 -- i put that in quotes because it is horribly ty software, and a decent percentage of the time prevents you from logging in with your fingerprint (without waiting and canceling out).

    - and no, it doesnt!!!! quite a pain in the . it has to do with the USH -- windows doesnt recognize it properly through the USH. still waiting and hoping for dell to do something about this, but more than a year after beta release of win7, its still no-go.

do two things -- check to see if you are actually throttling -- open the resource monitor and look at the frequency. check when plugged in, and see if it changes (see if being in high performance does anything). if neither solve it and you have the latest BIOS (which is what i assume you mean by firmware), then you probably have a lot of dust on your intake. just pop off the back, remove the heat pipe and the fan, and clean it -- this should take 2-3 minutes, and is an easy fix.

New touchpad driver dated 1st April.
    John

PS: While this new version is A13 and the previous one is A12 (released in January), the only file in the installer which is more recent than 25 Nov 09 is the version.txt.
