You can also try swapping the two cards and seeing if there's any difference... at least you'll know if it's a software or hardware issue after that...

Thanks, all. Going to check the HW leads tonight to see if there is an issue there.

This is a 'clean' install of W7ULT64. Started with just the Windows managed link to see how that was, went to the Dell driver next, went to the DCP Mgr./Driver pack next, uninstalled the DCP, installed the newest Intel (Mid-feb) driver yesterday.

I did find, today, a few posts on the smallnetbuilder forum that relate to issues specific to Linksys routers, connecting with the 5300AGN, when using wireless B clients on the network. Anecdotal reports from individual users, however, I DO HAVE two wireless B adapters on my network (on a Linksys router). They are legacy adapters for two older TiVOs (prior to the wireless G adapters being certified for the TiVO OS use). I'm going to try unplugging those two adapters to see if the reported issue is the same as mine. If so, I can always go grab a few newere wireless G adapters for the TiVOs.

Or buy another router and configure it as only-G/N, and the old one as only-B.

    ONe last question:
I get a bip when the laptop wakes up from standby, from the smartcard reader
USB device like when you plug something in

I don't have a beep (E6400), and never saw a speaker on the card reader. What you could do, is perhaps disable the device in Dell Control Panel power option (or power option in Windows, if you installed the latest Dell Control Point software for Win7), or open device manager, and disable teh smart card reader from there.

Alternatively, you can remove the keyboard and look for the connector if teh smart card and unplug it.

You can also disable the smartcard reader in Device Manager (or maybe in the BIOS). Also, I turn off all the default Windows sound effects.

I have the 2.53 GHz Core 2 Duo and was wondering if I could replace it with any of the other CPU options on the configuration page or perhaps something not listed. I was also curious if a motherboard replacement would be mandatory to switch to ExpressCard. Both of those are fairly difficult installs and I understand that. Probably sounds like I made some poor configuration decisions, but someone surprised me with a brand new machine 2 weeks ago.

I suppose my main concern is whether or not I can use VidDock 2 someday, it's nice to have such a modular laptop.
