Sorry when I type my post I did not think straight. In Canada, the laptop warranty is 3 year with next business day on site, MINIMUM (you can't go lower). And for some reason, I really though you were from Canada when I post my reply. Their is so many people on the forum (many with NBD service not in Canada, as well), I lose complete track of who has who, sorry.

That was exactly my thoughts regarding the keys, and is exactly how it is broken.

The bottom cover I can easily replace myself, and the hard drive that failed isn't even being used as the primary drive anymore anyhow. The only reason for me to send the machine in would be the scratched paint on the chassis, and it is only at the corner creases, mostly along the bottom front edge of the machine, and I honestly think it would just happen to another chassis.

I do recall that I should have onsite service, but I have not once ever heard of there being a Dell service rep in my area.

I also recall reading by multiple people that when Dell has removed their palmrest to replace something, that it never went back on as tightly as when it was first installed, because in the case of this laptop it is installed using primarily clips instead of only screws (though of course there are screws).

Also, in Canada, the return from shipping to depot is usually longer than 2 weeks.

I believe it is perfectly reasonable for someone not to want their otherwise pristine laptop taken apart and sent away with weeks of downtime (I do some freelance videography) when it could all be solved by getting Dell to send me a couple of choice parts.

I've lost a little paint from the front corners of the chassis. I think this is caused by the zipper on the bag I use because there's no flap between the zipper and the computer. Not bad for 18 months hard usage and travel, IMO.

Definitely, I'm super impressed by how the overall build of this thing has held up for the past year. I'm still at 100% battery capacity according to RMClock as well.

ie the fully charged capacity = designed capacity. If so, I'm impressed. I've lost some capacity but am still at over 90%. When time permits I'll do a deep discharge to recalibrate the battery. Last time I did that I regained some lost capacity.

overall I am pretty happy myself with this machine. Next time I will def buy another Dell from the outlet. This laptop has fallen a bunch of times, even from a car seat onto the asphalt and I just got a ding on the upper side edge.

But I still don't know what this new 1510 n-wireless card driver is for.

I had my palm rest replaced a couple of times recently. One of those times, it did snap out of place due to the clips not being in the right spots. But, luckily I do have on-site service so it was as simple as taking it off and putting it back on correctly. So far, no issues there. I've had my palm rest replaced at least 5 times through the lifetime of this machine and that's the only time I had an issue like that.

Whoops. I must have read something wrong. I'm at 88% battery capacity. I've never done a deep discharge to recalibrate once though, so I could probably get some of that back.

I had a few motherboard replacements (due to keyboard not working, etc) and every time they replaced the motherboard I got them to replace the palmrest (and sometimes bezel) since they always have that scratching issue.

Also, I heard that you can try to get a new battery out of Dell if your current battery is less than one year old. Worked for me.
