I have about 6 sets of Windows 7/xp pro 32bit recovery disks if anyone's interested in them...$10 a set, cheaper if you get more.

Thanks for encouragement ;) Now, it turns out that they CAN do what they had said they couldn't, that is generate a code to override BIOS admin password. So that is resolved. Within BIOS I have cleared the TPM chip but it still remains "locked" (too many wrong passwords, it says).
Looks like another session with DELL support ahead...

Don't worry about it. If you get them to go along with admitting it's their fault once, it's quite hard for them to come back on that. If they really can't fix it at some point (3 strikes is out) they need to replace the mobo. Not something i'd particularly look forward to but hey, if all else fails it's simply their only option.

    Hey guys,

Quick question. I just had my palm rest replaced by a dell tech not too long ago. However, I have just noticed that it seems like my palm rest on the right side has somehow come loose. It's hard to explain, but basically I can peel away the right side of the palm rest. It looks like the "hooks" that attach the palm rest to the chassis broke. I will take a photo to show exactly what I mean later...You guys ever hear of such a thing before?

Meh..the tech probably just forced it on too much and broke of the little latch. Time for another palmrest :(

It definitely looks like one of the clips in the palmrest isn't connected/working. Having dismantled an E6500, I can attest to how finicky those tabs are. They're hard to line up and really easy to break too, since the base is metal and the palmrest is plastic.

    Hi all
I hawe E6400, W7 ultimate, ... and preboot problem after upgrade DCP.
previous good state - firmware A19, DCP Security manager and drivers A13,14 preboot authentification enabled - fingerprint, single sign on enabled directly to W7 desktop - all works fine....
on saturday 13. I upgrade bios to A20, DCP Security drivers and manager to A15 and ControlVault firmware to 14.x.118.0, A15
after reboot - preboot fingerprint work fine but single sign on not, I need swipe another fingerprint to authorize to windows, next reboot - problem the same....

OK, dont worry, I go to preboot manager, remove all fingerprints and recreate it , but fingerprint wizard ends with error - fingerprint preboot enrolment failed. fingerprints added, but only to windows and not for preboot, preboot is still disabled and 0 users authorised....system and hdd password is added and works fine...
current state - bios authorization is system password and windows works fine with fingerprints....
anyone have same problem after upgrade DCP security to A15 ??????? :(
