Am I not getting something? I have the Latitude E6400 and it comes with an internal intel graphic card :O
Something is also weird, I recently reinstalled windows 7 ( 32bit ) on my E6400, and now whenever I disconnect my AC adapter and then reconnect it, I notice a significant performance decrease, CPU usage jumps up to 35-50% with no programs running, and the only thing i can do about it is to restart my laptop, is there a solution for this?

I just picked up a used e6400 and I'm wondering if it's possible to swap out the DVD drive for a second hard drive?

Couple of months ago I got a used E6400 just to play with, beautiful machine :) And something weird happened:

I used it with upgraded hard drives, ssd first and then a 7200 rpm hdd (from Dell E6520). The screen would sometimes slightly blink, but everything else worked just great. A week ago I put back the original 80 gb hardrive, reinstalled system and the blinking disappeared for good. As it happened also during booting before, I think it was hw caused, not due to software.

Might it be that E6400 just cannot handle well newer and larger drives? The drive was 500 gb. The model is one with integrated graphics only.

I have been using mine with a 128 gb Samsung 830 ssd for about 18 months now. It has been running great, though I do have Nvidia graphics.

The ssd I used was also Samsung's, but Evo series, the 7200 rpm was Hitachi's I guess.

Seems that machine's mainboard is not friendly with newer/larger harddrives, or if the machine used original harddrive for 3+ years, it has problems to adapt to a new one.

Anyway, it is a great laptop.

Both of my parents have been using 500GB SSDs (also Samsung 840 EVO) in their E6400s for months now, with no averse affects...

After various tests trying to figure out what caused the time to time blinking of display I could not figure out anything. But I found out that applying default settings in Bios fixes the problem. I use current Bios A34.
