    Thanks for the tip!
I hope I know what you mean when I have the laptop open :)

Just found my thermal paste, still have 3 tubes. Should be enough! :D

Does anyone know if the NVIDIA Quadro NVS 160M gpu supports .264 decoding? I can't seem to find a solid answer vie google.

If course it does. Any Geforce 6000 and newer (that is a 2004 GPU), support 1080p H264 decoding, without any problem. Even the most lowest end one, can play 1080p H264 videos without any problem.

The Quadro NVS 160M is a Geforce 9300M, but with 256MB of dedicated memory, instead of using your RAM.

Mh, I got the sheet of copper today.
I had to cut it to the right size.
During that process, the sheet got bent though.
So I put some paper on it to protect the sheet and hammered it flat again.
It's almost straight now, but not perfect.
Of course, this isn't totally optimal.

Do you guys think I should just try it like this?
Or do you have any suggestions how I could get it totally straight again?

Copper that thin should bend a little under the pressure from the heatsink and the heat there. Nothing is 100% flat. So I would go ahead and use it. Just be sure to use a little bit of AS5 to fill in the gaps. Keep an eye on the temps. If they are no better than before you can always try a new piece or another thermal pad.

Well, I used it as you suggested and it seems to work fine.

There is one thing strange though: the fan was on 0rpm. I checked double, but the power is connected.
Also, when I adjust it manually with SpeedFan, it does work.

Is it normal that the fan is on 0rpm? oO

Also, the multiplier of the CPU seems to jump around oO

So the fan is running at around 3000rpm now, didn't go to full yet.
That is super awesome, because it is WAY more quiet.

I'm a bit freaked out though: CPU temps jump around quiet a lot.
Every tick in ThrottleStop I get a new reading, but all in the same range.
    (about 55-61 degree)

Also, every tick in ThrottleStop the Multiplier jumps around.
It should be 8, but it's jumping around form 6,90 to 8,05 at random.
Any ideas what could be the cause of this?

If I recall correctly, the fan will typically stay off until the CPU/chipset hits a certain temp, then run for a while, even on the Nvidia model.

The multiplier thing might be due to background processes or whatnot... if I leave uTorrent running my multi jumps a little, even though the CPU usage is single digit.

So out of curiosity, what kind of temp drop did you see on average? I am pondering the mod myself.

    1. Update Thermal Table.
    2. Fix "Thermal issues, machine freezes & CPU usage at 100% at some conditions occasionally".
