Thanks. I'm aware with ebay rules but sending the keyboard back will cost me more than the keyboard itself. So I don't really care about the waranty. E6400 has a really nice keyboard (the only thing i like) and I don't want to replace it with some flimsy shiny plastic.

    Hi,

I'm not sure if its allowed to sell stuff here, but I have one spare battery slice for the E6400/E6400ATG/E6500.

    http://accessories.euro.dell.com/sn...px?c=fi&l=fi&s=pad&cs=RC1077977&sku=451-10585

    Specs:
    Capacity 84Wh
    Rating: 14.8Vdc
    Type: GN752

The battery is in good condition, used less than 10 times and I'm selling because I have no use for it anymore.

As you probably know already, it'll give you a couple of more hours (4-5h) of working time and it is attached to the bottom of the laptop in addition to the normal battery.

I was thinking of selling it for 60$.

If you're interested, don't use private message, but e-mail instead to [email protected].

I got an E4300 backlit keyboard from one of the Hong Kong suppliers for <£20 and it is genuine Dell. I think the pricing reflects the real cost of the keyboards.

If you are looking for the UK keyboard layout then your choice is limited.

Thanks, I bought one, will tell my opinion soon :)

I have another problem which I need help with.
My hinges should be replaced. Although the laptop is almost unused, the screen has considerable play. I can not explain how this can happen. I figured it would be best to buy whole lid with hinges. I found that I can choose between 3 models LED lids and can not figure out what is the difference between them. The models are: R309G, K802R and R150P
They all seem the same. I know it will be easiest to remove the screen and check what is my model but I want to leave this as a last option. I do not want to disassemble 2 times - once to see the model and then to replace it.

    Easy fix.
You will need a Philips head (X) screw driver of the size of the laptop screw that is on the silver plates to the left and right of the battery.

Step 1: Remove the system battery, turn off the system, and close the lid

Step 2: On the back of the system, where you put the battery, Display Port and Ethernet, you will see 2 silvered colored plastic plates (left and to the right of the battery). Unscrew the black screws that is on the silver plastic plate.

Step 3: The silver colored plastic plates can now be pulled out. Gently pull each on out. They are using a similar lock system than is on most battery remove on remotes.

Step 4: Place a clean cloth on your table, and put the laptop on reverse on the cloth. The cloth is there to protect the lid from being scratch.

Step 5: Notice that you have a screw where the sliver colored plastic plate was (one per side). Those are probably loose, screw them in tightly.

Step 6: Put back the plastic silver plate and screw in the screws that you previously remove.

Step 7: Put back the laptop at it's normal position, and open the lid. It should be like new. Now you can put back the battery and turn on the system.

If that does not help, then you can contact Dell for a replacement. It's covered under your warranty.

Thanks but already tried this and does not help at all.
Few days ago I pulled out the entire lid with the screen and I could not notice any play when moving the hinges by hand. This makes me think that the problem may not be in the hinges, but somewhere inside (rails or something else).
The warranty has expired, therefore, has to deal with the problem alone.

Are you sure warranty has expired? Didn't you have 3 year warranty with you system?

I'm not the first owner but it was in like new condition when I bought it.
Bought it from US, making the warranty invalid here, I already asked.
I wrote expired but is more accurate to say - useless.
If I can fix the hinges, just a few problems will remain unresolved. Like the popping sound and the cursor moving it's position sometimes when I'm typing.

Popping sound is a latency issue. It's driver related 99% of the time. Usually upgrading or re-installing drivers solves the problem. Uninstall > Restart > install the latest version of the sound card, video card and motherboard usually completely solve the problem.

That, you need to find an alternate drivers for the touchpad. I use the E6410 touchpad drivers (also uses Alps touchpad), and a bit of tweaking on the Dell touchpad panel found under the mouse option panel of Windows (Control Panel > Mouse), and I have mine working perfectly.

I find this very odd. I bought my E6400 in Finland, had it serviced there a few times, then moved to Portugal and changed my warranty location to Portugal, and I have already had a tech come home here as well. There's a form to ask for warranty transfer between countries on Dell's website, have you tried that?

EDIT -- I think this is the link I used.
