I love how the Precisions have that nice discount and have better specs but they go and give it that god awful lcd back.

im 99.9% sure there is bluetooth included standard on these laptops. A business laptop without even the option of having bluetooth? That is pretty ridiculous in my opinion. im going to ask them though.

i put an order in with a dell rep. he pretty much could get me no discounts. est. delivery date he gave me is 9/16.

EDIT - i just got a response. he says "Bluetooth is an option not a standard item." crap. i just emailed him back to tell him to add the option then

I don't know, I kind of like the ripples on the back. Gives it a unique look and sets up a nice contrast with the rest of the styling that's more plain. I'm really tempted to get the M4400 with the $335 off deal. Any got any links to the performance of the FX770M?

Oh yeah guys, I've been reading this thread for a awhile now, and lots of people talk about the switchable graphics. Would Dell ControlPoint software switch from the discrete to the IGP if the All Day Computing setting was turned on?

From what I've seen, it is a G96 core which is used in the 9500M GS, 9600M GT, 9650M GT, and 9700M GT. However, I'm looking for actual specs like clock speeds and benchmarks. I know that the Quadro series isn't optimized for gaming, but I'd love to see how it holds up if you throw Crysis at it! :D

i'm at siggraph 2008 at the LA convention center, and saw the new dell 17" precision in orange at the nvidia display booth. took a few pics as well. i'll post them later today.

i picked it up, and its got some heft to it. but the build quaility looks excellent... the top and bottm appear to be thick magnesium alloy. i checked the graphics card, and it's an nvidia 3700M with a gig of ram... they also had the new HP 17" workstation as well, which also had the 3700m with a gig of ram.

What are the pros & cons of Express Card vs PC-Card? I know Express card is the newer standard, but it doesn't seem like it has really taken off. What is everyone order with their laptop?

I don't know alot about this but I have seen Express card adapters for PC card, so I'd go with the PC card, and then get the adapter later if you find you need it.

I, for one, am disappointed that they didn't include a slot-load optical drive like they have on practically all the newer laptops now (Vostro, XPS, Studio).

Brand new technology and they incorporate an old-style DVD drive....not to mention how much better it would look with a slot load.

Bummer. Not to mention, I configured one that I'd like, and it was over $2000. Yikes!
