I chatted with an either extremely rude, or extremely busy and slightly pissed off rep from Dell a moment ago. He said "no idea" on the EPP thing (which I found out I get 12% off for my school), and said that Bluetooth comes standard. Take both with a grain of salt...

It is already up on my school's EPP in Canada. Gonna order today or tomorrow after I get a quote from a rep I deal with first to see if he can beat the EPP price.

Thanks for helping with BT issue. I'm still a little skeptical though.. The Dell specs for the E6500 clearly states that there should be a BT choice between these:

    Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth® 2.1,
    Dell Wireless 410 Bluetooth® 2.1 with UWB

If you don't get to make the choice in the configurator, I don't how they will know which one to put in at the factory.. Flip a coin, maybe..? ;)

Wow Dell really kicks up the ante this time with these awesome looking E's, which now face the HP business line and the Thinkpads head on, and my money's on the Latitudes! :D

You could swing one of two ways: Either they don't offer UWB right now, so it is only bluetooth, or, the rep was blowing smoke out his butt. I vote B.

There is always the third option: I'll make my order for the E6500 now and receive one without BT and then spend the next six months fighting with Dell.. :D

I've placed my order for an E6400. ETA on or before 15th September. My "account manager" said that there is a 15 day day lead time on the LED backlit WXGA+ display (which is part of my order).

In the absence of the 56k modem he found a USB modem for £14. Not a bargain basement price but offers the advantage of being transferable to other computers which lack a built-in modem. I hadn't noticed that Bluetooth was also missing until it was noted in this thread. Maybe it is included. I only use it occasionally and this should do the necessary when needed.

I couldn't haggle a very good deal: Delivery dropped from £49+VAT to £25+VAT. This is on top of the introductory discount.

I use the BT to connect with my HSDPA phone when on the road and for that it's quite useful..

I'm pretty sure the BT is there, but I'd like someone to confirm it before I'll make my order.

The webcast mentioned that the new Precision 6400 would support 16GB. Hopefully that means it has 4 memory slots, which makes 8GB far more affordable. I don't suppose anyone has more information on this?

(Just my luck that the model I'm interested in is the only one not yet available... At least I'm used to waiting.)
