    DDR2 is about half the price of DDR3. But the actual cost of the RAM means nothing to Dell their RAM upgrades are always way overpriced.

    imho DDR3 would bring better performance for the laptop anyway
    1) it’s 1,5 V – thus less heat and longer battery life
    2) higher transfer rate (ddr3-1066 8533 MB/s) compared to drr2-800 6400 MB/s, and it should match the bus of penryn cpu’s, which is 1066 MHz now.
    So I find it disappointing that new latitude series will have ddr2, when for example sony z will have ddr3.

    While DDR3 has shown little improvement in battery life, it has not shown significant improvement in performance, as far as I know.

    The current DDR3 chips have higher latency which sort of negates the benefits from the higher speeds.

    @ElectircTool
    you are not quite right
    "DDR3 latencies are numerically higher because the clock cycles by which they are measured are shorter; the actual time interval is generally equal to or shorter than DDR2 latencies."

    Did anyone sniff out the E6400 with the X4500 graphics?

    One thing I didn't like when I looked at the configuration was getting a default 90W power brick and then having to pay extra for a slim PSU appropriate for what's meant to be a lightweight notebook. I hope this will be different with an integrated graphics only model.

    About the power brick, I doubt it. The standard power adapter that comes with any system is the 2-prong 90W one. The Inspiron 1525 seems to be the only exception (possibly to keep costs down?), but that 65W one is still 2-prong.

    I hate the 2-prong adapters because I always seem to get zapped by the LCD latch, so I have a nice stash of 3-prong 65W ones. :)

    On that PDF, they list the E6400 as DDR2 while the E6500 is DDR3. Both are listed as having an 800Mhz frequency. Very bad typo?
