Here's a list of the SKUs for the 840M with the i7-5600U, just in case it would help anyone who is trying to order one directly from Dell. If anyone wants the SKUs for a CPU other than the i7, let me know and I'll post it for you. These are only the SKUs for each specific part, not for the entire build.

    Intel CPU Information
    Intel® CoreTM i7-5600U (Dual Core, 2.6GHz, 4M cache, 15W) [379-BBSJ]
    Processor
    Intel® Core™ i7-5600U Processor, Nvidia GeForce 840M, Smart Card [338-BFKC]
    Primary Battery
    4-cell (52Whr) Lithium Ion battery with ExpressCharge™ [451-BBKB]

** The 4-cell battery is required when selecting an 840M model.

Is the 4-cell (52Whr) battery flush with the case, or does it stick out?

And why would there be a specific battery requirement just for a discrete GPU? Surely, NVIDIA's Optimus would kick in to save battery power, no? Or is it the way the machine is designed with the GPU integrated into it?

I just got off the phone with my dell rep, and confirmed that you can now spec it with the 840m. I am exchanging my E7450 non discrete for the 840m version.

(i am in the US and have a premier account)

    I was able to get the 1920 x 1080 touch screen WLAN WWAN + 840m + i7

Which settings did you try specifically? are you on A02 bios? tried UEFI install? Does windows see the M.2 drive when booting off the mSATA drive? Im gonna contact Dell to see what those 4 diff SATA options are about on bios.

BTW, Just got this one in the mail, will try everything i can to make it work and report back.

Great information here, I really want to get this laptop with the M840 graphics card. I called my Dell rep and even looked on my premier login and they said they cant build it that way. My rep said if someone has a configuration and I can get them a service tag or an invoice number they could see if they can build it. I gave them the Dell internal part numbers but didn't matter.

Would someone be willing to share that info?

    Thanks

Any comments about the notebook's fan or other sound emissions from owners? The English version of the notebookcheck review has been released, and it notes "This does not change at first, when you start a very CPU or GPU demanding application – the notebook is often silent for one or two minutes even under maximum load. After that, the murmur of the fan starts to increase slowly and finally levels off at around 37 dB(A). This noise is not a problem, even over long periods, but the subjective impression would benefit from a less high-pitched noise characteristic." Does this mean that there's an annoying high pitch noise when the fan is on?

WTH is that slot? It's clearly not m.2 connector as it is centered and only 2 sets of pins where m.2 needs 3. Yet it has the center screw hole like an m.2 card would. All other WWAN card designs I can find have 2 outer screw holes (PCIe standard?) I'd be curious if it was actually 42mm long too, as compared to the mSATA it looks much shorter. Is this some custom dell proprietary slot size for the dell WWAN card?

Here is a pic of the card type you need... such a wierd size/shape to go with that connector though. hmm.

Just standard m.2 slot. See wikipedia for explanation. Sata controller is not connected, therefore only pcie cards work.
