I've noticed no significant difference in boot time between my Dell E7450 (UEFI enabled) and the previous E7440 (UEFI not enabled) both using the same SSD. Both are noticeably slower than my Samsung ultrabooks. I think the Ultrabook manufacturers, with a tightly defined range of hardware, can have a slimmed-down boot process while Dell Latitudes have a long list of hardware options for the BIOS to work through. However, you may find you can speed things up a bit by deselecting anything in the BIOS which you know you don't have. I tend to use sleep or hibernate a lot which avoids some of the waiting time.

Thanks , John. That clears it for me. I wouldn't bother too much with changing bios. That being said, anyone knows the most reliable way to convert to UEFI

You could have edited your original post to update your questions.

If you already have mSATA then it's easiest to change to a new mSATA SSD.

There's not a lot of difference in performance between Samsung EVO and Crucial. Which to buy depends on personal preference and price. However, I would recommend that you consider buying 500 / 512GB and leaving 20% of the capacity unpartitioned. This will help with maintaining good performance.

one more question considering the it is a new laptop and i have installed programs yet:
which is best method to change ssd drive?
1: fresh install with windows "create a recovery drive" and use it in the new disk?

    2) or with cloning disk software?

I personally use the cloning method but that is because I have a USB to mSATA adapter. If you don't have the adapter then try the recovery drive route.

The last time I changed a HDD to SSD, I bought a Crucial MX 512 GB, it came with one free use of Acronis cloning software. The process is so easy and mistake free. You use Acronis to image the drive onto an external portable hard drive, replace the internal SSD, then the Acronis software allows you to reboot the laptop with the software running, it re-builds the new SSD using the image on the external drive. It went very well, but if anything goes wrong, you still can put the old drive back into the laptop
