Latitude 7450 Owners' Thread

Mine takes around a minute from the shutdown command.

I would have thought an SSD with better write speeds would speed it up no end.

 

The PM851's write performance depends on capacity.
Sequential Write : Up to 410 (512GB/1TB), Up to 270MB/s (256GB), Up to 140MB/s (128GB)

The info here suggests that the 850 EVO doesn't have the same characteristic and the results here also look favourable. Some people are worried about the longevity of the EVO's TLC memory but this should not be a cause for concern for the average user (my 840 EVO 1TB is at less than 18 TBW in over 2 years). However, if you want 1TB in mSATA there isn't much choice.

I just want the fastest 500GB Drive I can get that is going to be compatible.

 

Then do your research for 500GB mSATA (you may need to try a few variations on the capacity such as 480GB and 512GB). The only ones I can quickly find are the 850 EVO, PM851 and Crucial MX200. Their headline numbers are very similar. A maximum read speed of around 550MB/s is the limit of the SATA interface but you can get the EVO to pretend to be faster by enabling Rapid Mode which uses RAM as a cache.

PS: There's also Liteon but it looks to be a bit slower on the writes and might be difficult to find.

 

I already have the MX200 in my desktop and it is very quick. However, that does not mean it would work as well in the DELL.

I will probably go for the Evo, as they seem to be more like to not have issues, given my current drive is a Samsung.

 

Dell Engineer came with the new LG Screen. Same bleed issue.

Back to the drawing board.

 

Anyone also have this issue, when moving laptop on desk, then this battery clip or sth scratches the desk, so that these rubbery things are as high as this battery clip..

 

Nope, I don't see it on mine.

 

The 1st one I had didn't do that can you see if Dell will send new rubber feet for your notebook?

 

Do you have a photo? Sounds like the battery isn't sitting flush inside its compartment?
