So with all of the SSD sales I bought a 512 GB SSD and installed it on this laptop. So far I still have to set all of my stuff up again but I was finally able to setup a dual boot environment of WIndows 8.1 and Ubuntu Linux. The problem that I had before was that I didn't disable UEFI. Below were the steps that I took to setup dual boot:

    1. Install WIndows 8 using the Dell DVD but leave some free space (I left 100 GB)
    2. After WIndows installation is complete boot Ubuntu installer via bootable USB.
    3. When you get to the part about partiioning..DO NOT choose the automatic installation, You need to choose something else and manually partition Ubuntu to install. (I chose to have 20 GB in root and the rest in /home)
    4. Reboot and you should be good to go!

I might make a video about this once I get some time and the semester is over.

I don't mean to revive a dead thread but to those of you who have the issue of their keyboard popping out of the chassis because it is worn out. You can use double sided tape to hold the keyboard down. Just make sure you avoid taping down the fan.

    Hey Everyone!

I did a cooling mod for this laptop and a video for it. Let me know if you have any questions but this made a huge diff in temps for me!
