    Hi primer_cuervo,

The reason why I repasted the laptop is out of the factory most laptops will have way too much thermal paste on them and this causes the laptops to run very hot. Also general maintenance wise you really want to re-paste your laptop once every 6-8 months as a general rule of thumb so that it does not dry out and it maintains max possible cooling. It might just be me being obsessive compulsive though.

The parts that I replaced on this laptop was the HDD to SSD, upgraded the thermal paste from factory thermal paste to MX-5 and I upgraded the RAM from the stock 1600 mhz to 1866 mhz. This gave me roughly 10%-20% increase in gaming performance.

Many of the issues that I had with the repairs could have very much been from the fact that my laptop was refurbished. One thing that I would like to note is Dell service is very good that comes with this laptop. There was technician that messed up my laptop however my Dell rep was great and he immediately ordered all the replacement parts that were damaged while the technician was taking my laptop apart.

One thing I would like to complain about is the keyboard on this laptop has very short travel so if you like nice keyboards then this laptop is not one for you.

    I hope this helps!

It sticks out a little bit but you don't even notice it. The 6- cell battery is very small.

Have you tried running sapphire trixx? Also have you tried looking at your power settings in high performance and editing them in Windows?

Yes I have tried sapphire trixx, It will not go past 400mhz on battery but while plugged in it will go 725mhz no problem. And it is on the high power plan.

So as I have stated in this thread previously, my laptop went out for repair at the Dell Repair Depot due to me not being able to be home for someone to come to my house to fix my laptop. After it went out ever since I got it back the thing got extremely hot during games. I am talking about 80 degrees Celsius or more when I would fire up DOTA 2. After taking it apart I saw what the issue was right away, the repair depot threw a TON of paste on to the laptop. I have posted pictures of a before and after but if you look at the end results of the temps you will see how important proper thermal paste application is: I went from going to 86 degrees Celsius max to 65 degrees Celsius!

Prior to getting re-pasting I was actually considering cutting a hole in the bottom of my laptop that I did before with my K53TA but I might be able to get by like this with decent temps after all!

I lied about the temperature. After gaming for over an hour I am back around 87 Celsius. I might have to drill a hole in the bottom of the laptop once my warranty is over. S0 far though I do find that this really only happens when I use the OC.

Is the following deal worth 650 CAD plus taxes?
Does the system stay quiet and cold?
I just want a well-built that business grade laptop that doesn't have any design flaws.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi cn_habs,

I replied back to your messages on YouTube. One thing I would like to ad did build quality wise it is not like a ThinkPad or HP probook, this is more comparable to the build quality you would get if you bought a $900 gaming PC. Also to reiterate I bought this laptop refurbished with a 1 year in home warranty for about $525. Stock this laptop runs cool enough but if you we're to overclock you would run into heating issues (85 degrees celsius) . Once the warranty is over I plan on cutting holes in the bottom of the laptop for cooling.

    Hope this helps!

I am having my motherboard replaced on my Latitude 3540 does anyone know if I will get to keep the old nearly working part? or will I need to let the tech take the old part?

If it is through the Dell warranty process you have to give the old part back to them.
