I haven't looked inside, but I would think it should be pretty dust free since I just got it from Dell right?

Sometimes. Mine was refurbished and I actually had to repaste and blow out the fans.

After you did that did it make a difference in how it would hold clock speeds?
How hard is it to repaste the chip in this laptop, and did you just do the cpu?

    Thanks!

Yes I stopped noticing fps drops after I did so. The heat sink is one piece and there is one fan. You will need to paste both the Cpu and gpu. I use artic cooling mx5

Installed windows 7 first then created a new partition for Ubuntu. Put in the DVD with the ISO image for ubuntu 14.04 and everything was pretty much automated - very easy install.

Strange when I tried the same thing with Windows 8 I ended up with Ubuntu not booing when I picked it in grub. I tried to mess with different bootloaders but I just gave up.

I'm messing with the same issue now. I'll let you know what I find if I get it working.

Sure thing! BTW are you the same Atom Ant that is in the K53TA forums? Did you get one of these laptops, if so what prompted you to buy this one?

Just an FYI but I have tried boot-repair from the yannubuntu repos and tried disabling UEFI as well. I think the issue with Dual booting was specifically because of UEFI and Windows 8/8.1 combination. That might be why HodgeMN was able to get it to work with Windows 7. But in my experience the Windows 8 drivers give you a little performance boost which is worth for me.
