That's some serious backlight bleeding. I would definitely have Dell replace that panel.

just wanted to share some first impressions (comparing the precision 7520 to the m4800)

    - in terms of speed it's an enormous improvement, I won't get into further detail. Just stating the obvious.
    - no native volume buttons (major setback)
    - keyboard types well, mind that the keyboard itself is a little smaller than the m4800 (noticeable on the smaller enter and backspace buttons in the Belgian/French Azerty layout)
    - three buttons above the trackpad have a better feel to it, as opposed to the ones below
    - no USB port at the back, I was very used to that one for the Logitech Unifying receiver. Now I have to pay a lot more attention how I put the laptop in the backpack
    - closing the lid feels more comfortable than the m4800
    - less heavier than the m4800
    - i'm using the msata from my old m4800 in a SATA enclosure, no problems so far
    - another personal remark: would have loved that they kept the headphone jack to the left, don't know why they switched sides...

    The same on the 7720-keyboard.
The old key design from my M6400 cover the LED-lights completely,
the new design doesn't. Now I see light below the key.
I hope, the new key hardware is more reliable than the old one.
I miss the direct Pos1/Ende (Home/End?) keys, but on the 7720 keyboard I prefer the placement of the page up page down key near the arrow keys.
And instead of direct volume control keys we now have direct forward, backward and play/pause-keys.:)
But these changes are not a big deal.
And why is, in both designs, the head phone jack on the opposite of the display jack:(

A few queries regarding the hard drive options in 7520

    (a) In the (primary) Hard Drive options, there are 3 512GB Class 40 drives

512GB M.2 PCIe Solid State Drive Class 40 [Included in Price]
    512GB M.2 PCIe SED SSD Class 40 [add $50.00]
M.2 PCIe 512GB SED SSD Class 40 (with Interposer card drive) [add $110.00

What is the differences between them?

    (b) In the 2nd Hard Drive options for 7520, what does the MPWS mean?

    Additional M.2 PCIe 1TB SSD Class 50 [add $905.00]
Additional M.2 PCIe 1TB SSD Class 50, MPWS [add $905.00]

"SED" means "self-encrypting drive". (Myself, I just use BitLocker for encryption...)
No idea about MPWS, from Googling this looks like a Dell-specific acronym. I wonder if it just stands for "mobile Precision workstation" (class 50 drives are supposed to be Precision only) and they doubled up that option by accident.

Dell Pro Support came and replaced my screen today. It is much better so far. The replacement screen has four hold down tabs(one on each corner), rather than just two at the bottom like the one he took out. The technician suggested that it was probably a different manufacturer.
Anyways, Thank you to Dell for the fast and convenient service, they came right to where ever I was and did the work. A+ service, I will update if there are anymore problems. I checked the backlight on the new screen in the dark, and it is almost zero bleed, so that is a good start.

For those of you who have also used Lenovo and the p70 or other lenovo laptops, how is the key travel on the dell? I hate short travel. Hence why I am leaning towards the lenovo as much as the dell sounds like the better deal. I also read from a review the keyboard on the 7710/7720 is from a another laptop dell offers so its not specific for the precision, so that would tell me its not a long travel keyboard. Any comments would be helpful thank you!

i read some not-so-good stuff about the SSDs in the new Dell XPS ...

" Dell is shipping the 9560 with two different SSDs at the moment: Samsung and Toshiba (and judging by the firmwares on the website, may add a third: LiteOn). However, the Toshiba XG4 drives are between ⅓ and ½ the speed of the Samsung PM961s.
The 1TB drive in my unit is the Toshiba XG4, unfortunately, meaning I have decent read speeds (1700Mb/s) and much slower write speeds (800Mb/s). It’s downright disingenuous that despite paying the same price and getting (allegedly) the same specs, users will be getting such disparate performance. Dell seems to be sending the units with the PM961 to reviewers and shipping the XG4 out mostly to consumers, and they should be called out on this. Shame."

    from http://www.ultrabookreview.com/14529-dell-xps-15-9560-review/

in fact it is being discussed in other forums too... https://www.reddit.com/r/Dell/comments/5xaxoc/the_only_reputable_dell_4k_xps_15_9560_review_so/

any idea this will happen in Precision series too?! o_O
