@gotta2know it seems, that the 960pro is 15% faster then the SM961(from specs), this is faster, but significant?
For me, more important ist the long time reliability.

Sure, long time reliability is most important.t But since both are from the same manufacturer (Samsung), I was assuming that both would have the same 'quality' in terms of performance and reliability. Wont that be the case? Would the OEM drive have a better performance than the user-installed drive?

    Also the 960 PRO (1TB = ~630$) is way cheaper than the Dell counterpart (1TB = ~900$).

Really looking forward to suggestions on this.

UPS will probably delivery my 7720 around 2pm. I guess they came with the same shipment. ;)

When deciding between the Samsung SM961 and the 960 PRO there is something to consider. At least in the EU it's like this:

The Samsung SM961 is an OEM drive, meaning you won't get any warranty or support from Samsung for the SM961, you only get warranty from the retailer (usually 1/2 year full (Garantie) and 2 years limited (Gewährleistung) in the EU). The 960 PRO is a end-user product, Samsung gives you 5 years (full) warranty. I'm not sure how it is outside the EU.

Since I had 2 Samsung SSD die on me already (840 PRO and 850 PRO), so I think that's an important point.

But if we purchase the OEM drive from DELL on configuration, then it is covered by Dell's warranty, right?

What I have been told by higher-up Dell reps in the past is, adding or swapping hardware does not impact the warranty at all. However, obviously components that you install would not be covered, and issues related to those components or your installation job would not be covered. (Totally makes sense.) Dell has the option of requesting that you restore the machine to its original hardware configuration before performing warranty service, but for something simple like installing an extra drive or swapping the RAM, they generally won't bother with this unless it seems that the specific issue might be related to the new hardware. (Depends on the issue, and on the support rep that you get.) I've had them perform service on machines several times that I have added an additional HDD or SSD to, with no hassle.

As for the interposer, I do not have a link for you, but you can try calling the Dell spare parts department (877-372-3355 in the U.S.). They should be able to sell you one. I noticed that there are some pictures of it in the thread by @song_1118, but I cannot make out the part number, maybe someone who has one can provide that.... Otherwise, you can go round with Dell until you find someone who can figure it out.

Other than expected mine arrived at 1:30pm.
A little bit disappointing: Zero documentation and only delivered in the brown box - no further case. At this price level I expected a convenient case.
Now I have to install a lot of software - til later..

    [Update]
    Update to Windows Creators successfully
Installation of Visual Studio, Adobe CC, Office (incl. Outlook-Accounts!!!) successfully
Transfer of most of the necessary completed
Everything works fine, now I will go on with my 100 pages magazin project on the new 7720.

I found a webpage(https://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=page&id=50) suggesting that the Optical Drive can be replaced with an additional HDD/SSD...

would this hack be doable in the 7520?

    --

So the same interposer parts can be used in both 7520 and 7510?

I didn't make that claim, but I would think that it is the same part. For sure, the 7520 and 7720 would have the same part.
