    I just got my E6400 and I am quite happy with it as an upgrade over my D630. This laptop feels so much more solid. I have gotten spoiled with the speeds of an SSD on my E4200 so I would like to get one for my E6400.

    What is the best one out there right now in the $300 range?

    128 sounds good. Shame that Silicon Power seems to be in the 450 range. Shoot.

    Only good MLC SSDs at the moment are:

    Indilinx controller based (OCZ Vertex, Supertalent Ultradrive, Photofast G-Monster V3, G-Skill Falcon,...)

    Samsung PB22-J controller based(Samsung, OCZ Summit, in Dell Systems...)

    Intel SSD (Intel X25-M, Kingston,...)

    Believe me any other MLC based SSD is not competitive.

    And SLC is too expensive!

    In the $300 range, you've got some pretty good choices: From best to worst random write speeds: Intel X25-M 80GB ~$325 > Indilinx 60GB ~$250 > Samsung 2nd gen SLC/1st gen MLC 64GB ~$250/$150. All of these are nonetheless solid drives that won't stutter or require any tweaking.

    I didn't include the Samsung 2nd gen MLC 256GB because it generally prices itself out of this range. The Intel and Indilinx controllers also get faster random write speeds.

    I've had the OCZ Vertex in my E6400 for about 3 months now, works great, fast, cool, and did I mention fast?

    you can get it for about $350 or so for the 120gb version.

    Yet the G.Skill Falcon is a exactly the same and is cheaper.

    I am just waiting on some cash, but I think you can't beat that:
    @newegg.com
    OCZ Vertez 120GB is 375$
    G.skill Falcon 128Gb is 319$ w/free shipping.

    They both use the same new stutter free SSD controller. Otherwise, the previous revisions will be cheaper but have problems and are NOT stutter free. The only better thing would be the Intel X-25.

    I thought that the Samsung PB22-J came second to the Intel X25. See here. There's also another good review, but i can't remember where.
