This is slightly OT, but does anyone know how long a quote would be good for with one of these if you got a Dell rep to give you one?

A small update about the bluetooth on the precision 7710.

i have never been able to pair anything in bluetooth. I thought it was due to drivers issue, but in fact, it was because one antenna was not connected on the wlan card.

I saw on a page someone who also had issue with bluetooth (same as me), would not detect devices and I checked the wlan card, and the white cable was not attached to the card.

Now I fixed it and I was able to use bluetooth for the first time.

    Cheers

Great idea thanks! I completely forgot for the RAM (I do for systems)... agreed always go through small business whether or not you consider you have a "business" or not. :)

My guess is from the issues with the intel video and white screens some have reported.

Does anyone know the part#/description for the interposer/drive enclosure required for an M2 NVMe drive to be installed in the 3rd drive bay (where the 2.5" drive goes)?

    Thanks :)

WPTND for the interposer board, and Y1WJX for the bracket. Confirm with your dell rep before ordering.

One month+ response time isn't too bad. ha. I'm anxious though for the next BIOS release because my sleep/awake time is atrocious in 1.3.12. I mean, I can get by, I only awake from sleep in the morning when I begin my day, but crap it is slow. I'm talking about 1 minute waiting for a display to appear, just anything. no splash screen or anything. Sometimes it is instantly, but sometimes I have to unplug and replug in my AC power wire just to get it to really awaken (that may be placebo effect). Most of the time sleep awake only takes about 20 seconds (still way too long) but sometimes I can be waiting a minute which is crazy slow.

Side topic: I said in a previous post that I have been experimenting with booting having optimas disabled in the BIOS.

The reason for this experiment was to see if I could get by without optimas while using 1.4.8 BIOS as it would not work with Optimas enabled on some 7710 systems (ie you would get white snow screen as if display were broken). I'm still at 1.3.12 as I prefer optimas but here is what I've found if trying to use the 7710 with Optimas disabled.

Here are some differences I've noticed with Optimas and without Optimas. No difference in use (I'm ignoring temps or wattage). I'm not a gamer, but I play every other weekend or so. And sometimes this will happen in a chrome browser when scrolling too... If using optimas with UHD in native resolution, there is diagonal tearing. If anyone has experienced it, you know exactly what I mean. It is not subtle. I can ignore it but still it is there. Anyway, it is seen if optimas is enabled while using Intel 530 or P530. If you disable optimas in BIOS then no more diagonal screen tears. I suspect it is not Dell but is an Intel issue relating to 530 and optimas.

But I prefer optimas enabled as it is ideal for me. I don't see that diagonal tearing in normal operation in premier using scaling while optimas is enabled or if using external monitor (2560x1440) in native resolution. So it seems it is isolated to 4k native resolution (no scaling adjustments) while optimas is enabled. And only in certain games and sometimes when scrolling via chrome. Farm simulator 2013 I see diagonal tearing consistently if optimas is enabled in 4k, but not at all in Left for Dead 1 or 2. Anyways, I've gone back to using Optimas even though with it disabled I never see tearing.

I hope this makes sense. I'm a bit tired as it is late and I've re-edited this post a few times for grammar. To summarize though, with Optimas disabled, no tearing. With optimas enabled, and with 4k without scaling, then it has diagonal tears.
