    Hi guys
after the third technical intervention to my M6700, Dell told me will substitute all PC.

Since in the catalog there is just M6800, what can I expect? they propose just it or directly 7710 ?

In my opinion (since the hypotesis is to substitute your pc with "something equal or higher if the equal is no more available") they should be propose me 7710 with:

    - cpu: my i7 3740m is 2,7 .- 3,7 turbo while 7710 "i7 default" is i7 6820hq is 2,7-3,6 but it does not match the maximum turbo speed of old 3740m, so they have to propose me 6920HQ in my opinion

    - IGZO 4k ('cause the 1920x panel are given by 72% gamut, while my actual panel, even if is 1920x it 100%, is adobe rgb gamut and M6800 has only 72% gamut panel, while 100%, today, is only in 7 series with 4K display)

    - my originary ram was 2 x 4: even if in the basic config they propose 1 x 8, in this case, it should miss dual channel, so the next config is 2 x 8 that is what I expect they will propose me

    - my battery is 97 long life: they should propose me 85 long life but, actually in the italian catalog there is 72 and 91 no long life cycle, so they will propose me 91 (even if is not the exactly thing)

    - finally the "missing dvd burning" that is not more mounted, I don't know how could be "compensated"....

I really doubt they will give you a 7710. If anything, you will get 6800 (unless they will find 6700 in their stocks). For once, they probably have a number of older machines still in stock and need to get rid of them before buyers fully switch to the new machines.

keep in mind the intervention (with no solution) is open since 30.12.2015 and now we are in the middle of february and with the last intervention my 6700 made worse. I'm not able to use it anymore with its display and using it at home with external monitor it's very very slow when I access to any device (internal or external).
So in this moment i'm very unhappy customer, so I expect they will find some way to make happy and I don't want refurbished or old stock machines...

Agreed with what Winger said. 6800 is still available for order and most likely will be what they give you. I doubt they give a 7710 nor are they entitled to if they still have 6800s laying around. It's still an upgrade.

Agree with your thoughts since 6800 is still an upgrade from 6700 but there is the question of the display. 6700 just had the choice of IPS RGBled 100% adobergb gamut. (that is mine!)
while M6800 does not have that choice, it has only 72% panel. So, since the 100% gamut is today a choice only of 7710, I think (and I hope) this could help me to get more chance for the 7710.

Can 7710 owners describe the backlit keyboard...brightness control, "spillover", etc. How does it compare to the 6800?

Dell Precision 7710 has exactly the same keyboard (and backlit) as 15-inches 7510. The keyboard is very good, comfortable and solid. You have two levels of backlit: the first one is perfect for working at night, the second one is perfect for making you mad. :)

However, I can recommend that keyboard, probably the best on market.

Well... 6600 has 4 levels of backlit. And it has dedicated home/end buttons. And the arrow keys have almost the same size as the other keys. And dedicated volume control keys.
Looking at 7710 I will say I strongly disagree with the above statement.

If for you the most important things are dedicated volume buttons, I have no more questions. :)

Current generation keyboard is very solid, very intuitive for touch typing without typos. So far for me choice is simple and I can handle Fn + combinations for End, Home and volume level.
