You should be fine as yours only has the integrated graphics. Most of the throttling problems are because of the AMD Radeon Graphics.

Just got an E6540 today, it's our company standard high end laptop.

Wondering if I got a dud or if the guys that do the system installs forgot a few things. Manage to get everything working now including the 2 display adapters to show up. Main annoyance now is the vague gridlike, scan lines on the internal display. That and the glacial boot times are really getting to me and quickly overshadowing the joy of a virtual machine booting 4 times as fast as on my old toshiba.

Now before I really get annoyed, does anyone have some tips as to get a proper looking display without any disturbances.

Yes! I've had this problem since day one. USB 3.0 connected HDDs randomly drop off the system without notice. I'm going to eventually get the motherboard replaced once I get a break at work (it's my main work machine).

The screen might just be normal as this doesn't have the best looking screen.

Did you get a standard drive or SSD? Mine never takes over 10 seconds to fully boot from the time it is turned on.

I had the screen lines problem with my E6540 too. It's because Dell picked an utter dog **** panel for the E6540, my M4800 has no such problems (viewing angles are better too).

I just bought this laptop without a backlit keyboard. I found a backlit one going on sale and i am planning to buy it. Do you guys know if it would work on my laptop or do i have to install anything else so that it can function properly?

"Screen door effect" is an unfortunate feature of some displays lately. Maybe to make the improvements of higher DPI (and higher profit) screens more apparent. For example, in a store, many people can't see much useful difference between the original iPad (with no screen-door effect and good font rendering and antialiasing) and the "retina" iPad.

Some antivirus/anti-malware software does a boot-sector scan to protect against "rootkit" malware that is invisible to the file system, so your corporate install might boot slowly for that reason.

Hello and sorry for the intrusion.
I just spoke with someone at dell.uk through their chat, and he said that the precision M2800 will have an improoved cooling sistem than E6540's one.
Is this the truth or it's just a way to tell me "don't worry, just buy it"?.
