Ouch, that's a crazy long drive for a service call. Especially in the frozen tundra that you call a state.

Did he say what he was servicing? I don't remember if you already commented on that or not. Just the motherboard or what?

Motherboard and heatsink. I find it a bit interesting though that 3 months ago when I inquired about the same issue that I was only offered a heatsink. Now they are dishing out motherboards too?

Actually the drive is closer go 1:20min. But the weather can easily make it 2+ ... I'm only here for school. I hate the weather here. Lol

At least you were able to get a heatsink.. They're just trying to cover all bases so they don't have to do an exchange. Their process is "Gpu is soldered to the mother board, maybe the Gpu is making it overheat. Replace motherboard. Replace heatsink." Logical? Yes. Cost effective? No.

Did you verify that he actually had the heatsink? My guy didn't find out it was missing until the repair package was opened onsite.

Any updates from your case manager?

edit: Just called my tech, I got his voicemail but asked him about the heatsink being in the package. I'll update when he calls me back

Nope, I emailed him this morning to see what time he was going to be reviewing my case to make sure I'm available. Hasn't mailed me back yet. He's only in the office until 4p CST which is another like 2.5hrs.

Interestingly enough, my service call # still doesn't have any parts associated with it... Hmm

Edit: Still no phone call back from my tech. Although I would imagine considering his drive he would check the parts before venturing out to me.

Edit2: Just got a phone call from Dell (not the technician from Unisys) and I have her pull up the manifest for my parts. She confirmed to me that the parts were indeed shipped, she named the heatsink, moterboard, daughterboard, and something else I couldn't quite make out.

Tried to touch base with my case manager by phone but I got his voice mail. Maybe I'll hear from him tomorrow.

Also, it appears his extension is based off the standard business warranty line, not ProSupport. Better luck of getting you other guys in with him if he does indeed help me out and is open to the idea.

So basically they still have no idea what each section is doing since we can't get two of the same answers

Looks like I'll be waiting a few more days... This winter storm is kicking our butts...
