The 1080p displays are nice and you can always change it later for something very nice like the AUO panels. The media bay will accept a second HDD caddy.

I have the same card and it works great. No need to hook up the USB power pigtail thus far either.

Hi Scott_RC-TEK thanks for the info. The e6520 seems like a really well built machine and i like the 3 year warranty. I'm really tired of cheap plastic consumer laptops. Thanks again!

    Hi,

I'm a brand new E6520 owner. I had a question regarding what type of SSD I can put in there. Specifically, can I use:

256GB Samsung 830 Series 2.5" SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (MZ-7PC256B/WW) ??

    My E6520 came with:
320 GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200 RPM)
8X DVD +/- RW Drive (Hitachi LG)
    Optical Drive Bezel

So if the Samsung SSD works, then my other question is will it fit in the E6520 with all the other things I already have? And do I need some sort of adapting kit?

    Many thanks in advance! :)

The E6520 has a 9,5 mm HD caddy, so the Samsung 830 will fit with a spacer since it is only 7 mm thick (i.e. get the one for notebook which include the spacer in the packaging). I am about to upgrade and I am considering an Intel 520 series which has similar performance but longer warranty (5years vs 3 years of the Samsung).

    Enjoy your new E6520!

Well, I have not yet bought my SSD.

Being reading across the forum and the E6520 takes 9,5mm HDD/SSD.
If you have bought a Samsung 830 SSD it is 7 mm thick and you need a spacer (2,5mm thick) to raise its thickness tor 9.5 mm. The spacer should be in the SSD box.

^There may be some cheap eBay alternatives, but NewmodeUS is the best choice, quality component and a functional ejector/lock latch.
