(apologies if this a double post - search turned up nothing).

Anybody installed 16gb in an e6520? Does it work? Does the CPU matter?

I'm considering an outlet.dell.com deal, but want to be sure I can get 16GB in there, b/c my daily database load eats up my current 8GB of memory for a breakfast snack.

Yes, I have tested 16GB (2x8GB) 1333MHz memory in the E6520 and the E6420 with a 2720QM processor and all works well.

I have not tried the 1600MHz memory yet. The Intel Mobile QM67 chipset in these systems is a good platform.

Yes. I find it's quite helpful when you're away from a wall outlet for extended periods.

Otherwise, if you don't want the battery sticking out but need extra runtime, you could always get the modular bay battery (swaps out with your optical drive) or the battery slice instead (sits underneath the laptop).

Anybody retrofitted a webcam into one of the e6520's? Plug and play (plus the bezel), or pain in the butt?

Yes, it is easy. Just get the camera module and webcam version of the LCD bezel and you are good to go.

All you have to do is pop off the bezel [easy], unplug/remove the mic only module, plug in the webcam module to the existing cable (works for both the mic only and webcam modules), and finally mount it in the same spot the mic only module was. It takes about 10 minutes. :D

You can also get the cool [but expensive] "slice" batteries like the one below:
    New genuine 9 cell battery slice for dell Latitude e6220 e6320 e6420 e6520 97Wh | eBay

These mount to the bottom of the system [via the dock interface] and can operate in tandom with or individually from the main battery. Likewise for the charging.

Your system may become some-what thicker, but no battery sticks out the back and you can get up to 18 hours of operation!  :D

Thanks all... I'm a bit worried about the 9 cell battery in that I have seen some reports that you have to remove it to put it in the docking station.... my laptop will be docked A LOT... so I might just go with the 6 cell for now....

What real world battery life can I expect with a 6 cell (quad core) with medium settings?

About 4-4,5 hours under light load, like webbrowsing etc.
