Does anybody solved the problem with the malfunctioning turboboost with the A06 bios? I know downgrading is an option but is there an other option?

    Hi All,

Sorry I am asking this in E6520's forum because I did not get a response in E6510's.

I have an E6510 with Intel HD Graphics and want to connect two monitors using the VGA port and I do not want to mirror the display but extend it. Is it possible? If so which connector(s) should buy?

    Thanks you!

Ummm.. You want to use the single VGA port to connect two monitors? I'm not sure that is possible - you may be able to use the VGA & HDMI ports to display/extend two images, though.

Ok i have a battery problem.

I noticed with my 6-cell and 9-cell battery that they don't fully charge anymore.
The batteries are both just a good month old.

It seems i have some battery wear (10% on the 9-cell !) after i let the computer run out of juice at around 5% (critical battery level).
Every time it happened the battery wear , visible in linux and windows with batterybar, shot up with about 5%.

Is there any way i can recover those 10% or is it permanently damaged and i should never let the battery run out ?

I tried letting it charge all day/night but it seems the "software" for the battery cuts out at 90% and then stops charging.

I am now afraid of the calibrating everyone talks about since it seems to get worse each time i drain the battery almost completely.

I have the same problem with my 6420. After the first couple of charges the max went down to 90% and there is no way to have it charged more than that. Actually it is slowly going worse. Now (after a couple of months of use, mostly attached to AC) the max charge level is 88%.

Hope someone find a way to "reset" the internal circuit that avoid overcharge, which I think is responsible for this behavior.

Maybe a problem with the power adapter?

It's less than 1 yr, so all battery packs for these units should still be under warranty. If it actually is something wrong with the battery, I would actually suggest "exercising" it more to see if it continually degrades. Not sure what % level that would have to be (probably when the Dell software tells you the battery needs to be replaced).

I bought the 3 yr 87WHr on my 6420 and have not experienced anything like that yet.

    Yes... in many ways...

The best option... Considering you bought a laptop designed to work with a docking station, I would recommentd two monitors connected to the docking station with DVI or DP, and the E-Monitor stand which replaces one of the monitor stands with a different stand that you can mount the dock and monitor to... If a docking station is out of your price range you can connect two monitors via the display port and the VGA port...

Attached is a picture of the dual monitor + dock setup... You can't beat this...

Yes, I know it's a M4600 in the picture, but it doesn't matter... any E series Latitude or Precision M4x00/M6x00 will also dock in this setup... THIS IS WHY COMPANIES BUY DELL.. I hope Mano_G and company understands this....

Just got my new 6520 after having to send one back because they sent the wrong screen, - Im runnin quadcore with 8 gigs and no SSD but 7200 rpm 500 gb. Not super impressed with the speed of this machine, coming from an old MBP - well see after a few days of all the indexing and stuff I guess - have not seen anything concrete on this thread, but are you guys doing anything when u get these to optimize/set up.... I do see some dell software installed - but overall not to much bloatware, trendmicro? are you guys using that?
I do not see any nvidia software in the programs menu but the nvidia control panel is there when right click on desktop etc?
Im sitting at about 70 processes, seems to be normal for this machine, does anyone try and knock a lot of those out?

THanks, - just getting used to W7 coming from VIsta Ult and OSX.

I just ordered a Latitude E6520 with the specs listed below in my signature. The sales guy I ordered it through thought I might possibly receive it as early as next Friday.

The pricing started out on the Dell website as follows:

    Code:
    Starting Price $1,819.00
    Instant Savings [U]$ 361.00[/U]
    Subtotal $1,458.00
The sales guy added on an additional coupon for $250 off (17.1%), making the final deal as follows:

    Code:
    Additional Savings	[U]$ 250.00[/U]
    Subtotal $1,208.00
Also free shipping. I went in with the sense that if I could get the price for this laptop around $1,200, I would feel good about that. Probably not the best deal of all times, but it was better than what I would have gotten ordering it over the internet. I am pleased and looking forward to receiving my new Latitude.

As an aside, I only ordered it with 2 GB of Ram. I am planning on buying 8 GB immediately to upgrade. Does anyone have any advice on 1) the best quality RAM I can buy at 2) the lowest price possible (priorities in that order) and 3) where the best place to purchase it is?

Thanks in advance for any responses.
