OK, i got it, thank you guys! Now i know, that i will have to order that double-heat-pipe cooling unit too. The holes for the bigger cooling unit should be there, right?

Does it really make difference? I mean, is a quad core so much more hot than the dual core?

I have finally received mine a couple of days ago. I'm quite impressed with the speed, especially the SSD (240Gb OCZ Vertex 3 Max Iops). Coming from a 3 years old D830 that was also upgraded with an SSD.

Anybody know where I can download the e6520 drivers/software (win7 x64) for the webcam? I can't see it in the download list for my service tag

I remember there was some webcam software installed on my e6520 when I first got it, but after reinstalling windows I have lost it :(

Windows 7 finds the webcam so no drivers are needed. In regards to the Dell Webcam Central software, you can get the disc image (.iso) off my server HERE.

Google "does my webcam work" for a free website to check if it works. I had to do that.

Looks good, other than the fact that 1905FP is a 1280x1024 monitor.

The other thing to note coming from a D-Dock to an E-Port is that it is not going to show as docked. It's more of a port replicator, so you won't get that annoying thing where you bump the table and Windows and/or the D-Dock has a fit and gives messages it was improperly undocked. The tradeoff is that there is no advanced PCI dock for E-series.

Quad core = 45W. Dual core = 35W. Also, I think the configurator requires nVidia w/ quad core if you choose a quad core CPU.

    Hello,

I have E6520 with I7-2720QM and HD 3000 graphics. Today the graphics driver was updated automatically by DELL and everything went crazy. I had to do a system restore then tried again installing manually and again the same issue.

The new driver was published on 8/15/2011 version 8.15.10.2418, A09 GMA HD 3000 (NB) .

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

Disable Optimus in the BIOS is my advice, and use either NVS 4200 or GT 520 drivers for the nvidia card.

Optimus does give you more battery, but it makes it hotter and causes a lot of driver issues.

That's kinda scary to hear. One of the main reasons I would consider this laptop is for decent battery life compared to it's performance potential and I was excited to see that PC land had something like Apple where discreet and integrated graffics were switched between in order to save battery life. Is this really true? Does Optimus pose more problems than it's worth?
