Can anyone confirm if the A06 bios allows you to enable fan control?

Or lets you access the BIOS thermal management with FN+SHIFT+1,5,3,2,4, FN+R?

    Thanks

I wanted to ask already before: does anyone know, if it is possible to upgrade the CPU on the E6520? I saw in the service manual, that the CPU is accessed easily, but is there any difference for the mainboard, which CPU you install?
Which CPU`s are compatible with the E6520?

I have now a I5-2520M as the good price-performance balanced CPU, but i`m thinking about upgrading it some years later, when the CPUs get cheaper and the guarantee runs out, so i won`t lose it when i change the CPU myself.

I also read on the dell.com (i ordered from Germany, there was no such option), that during configuring the laptop you can choose between:
    "nVidia® NVS™ 4200M 512MB DDR3 Discrete Graphics for Dual Core"
    and
    "nVidia® NVS™ 4200M 512MB DDR3 Discrete Graphics for Quad Core"

Does that mean, that i have perhaps a "Discrete Graphics for Dual Core" and can`t upgrade to a Quad Core CPU?

Sorry to add this already long thread but I wanted to ask actual owners of the Dell latitude E6520. Thank you all for this thread. It has been very informative.

I am seriously considering the purchase of one of these units for work. Specked out in the included image I am under budget and, considering the fact that I am currently running a Dell Latitude D820, believe that I should be extremely happy with the system.

I currently use two Dell 1905FP monitors with my D820 and they work fine when I dock my laptop and I'm assuming that they will continue to work, just like they do now, if I were to connect them to an ePort Plus replicator with the 6520. Can anyone see any issues with this setup?

I`m not very sure, if it fits in the docking station with the 9 cell battery that is standing out.

The only reason that I can think of that they have a dual and quad core option is that the quad core version has a beefier heat sink.

You can run any 2nd gen core CPU you want on the E6520. I am running an i7-2920xm ES, even though I originally purchased an i3.

Yes, it is very easy to access the CPU socket and update the processor. Below is a pic of my 2720QM based system with the 4200M GPU.

The heat sink may be different.
Discrete Graphics for Dual Core has only one pipe. cpu and gpu share the single pipe.

Discrete Graphics for Quad Core has two pipes for cpu and gpu

E6520 can connect two monitors without using dock. You can plug one monitor to vga port and another one to hdmi port.
