Have you tried to disconnect the cables from the LCD itself? It's possible that the connector on the LCD end is standardized so that you can swap with your existing cable. I'll check my FHD's cable to see if it has a number on it.

    Update:
On the part of the cable visible when the bottom is removed, there was no model number.

It is hard to get the LVDS cable separately from Dell. They usually can't find it becuase the cables are typically only included in the LCD service kit, which is the panel, cable, and hinges.

Just tell Dell you want the cable included in the # MC6JN (matte) LCD display panel "field service kit" for the E6520 system.

The LG 15.6" matte 1080p panel itself is a LP156WF1 TL-B2 and is referenced by the part number above so they should be able to find the LVDS (aka eDP) cable that matches that panel and the E6520 display output since (again) it is included in the service kit.

I would get you the cable part# from mine, but I just put everything back together last weekend and would like to keep it together (for now at least...;) :D )

My E6420 on the E-Port Plus gets the popping, but only during Chrome+Flash sessions where video was playing.

It is probably some sort of power saving/switching option.

Thank you!! I did a google of the MC6LN number you listed and it brought up the config page for an E6520 with the FHD screen. From that I was able to match up the part number that was on an eBay auction for the back cover with hinges and cable that I need. Dayum, can't wait to have 1920x1080!!

    Thank you again!!

FYI... Dell has posted AO6 bios version today. Although on my system, Turboboost is not working. I loose the turboboost multipliers and cpu runs 1.2-1.6 GHz constantly and corresponding temperature is up 5-9 degrees C.
Bios AO5 runs fine with the CPU running ~800 mhz when not busy.
I monitor my system with Argus Monitor and run windows 7 on the "balanced" power profile.

    Anyone else experience this?

I did the A06 BIOS upgrade today as well. No problems here. Under a heavy load the CPU ramps up to 3192 Mhz on both cores. Idle sits at 797 Mhz. Haven't checked the temps yet. I'm using HWinfo64.

just posting a update about my new E6520 for future owners. If you are picky about keyboard layout then this laptop is probably not for you, one of the worst keyboards, the older E6400 14inch laptop keyboard feels lot better. I constantly mistype. If you are a software developer or somebody who uses up/down/enter keys a lot then this keyboard is not for you.

I had to remap pageup/pagedown/right shift keys with SharpKeys to live with this laptop.

I put in a 128GB 440MBps SSD and my virtualbox XP and Ubuntu machines start in less than 2 or 3 seconds from saved state, ridiculously fast.

    6. Update the CPU microcode: Perhaps the support of some new CPUs, i.e i7-2640m, i7-2760qm, i7-2860qm
