2TB is maximum for the motherboard.
If you use uefi boot, I think more than 2 TB can also be supported.

Just wanted to follow up, spoke to a Dell tech rep about converting over to a backlit board. He spent an hour trying to figure out if it would work with my unit. Guess I won't know for sure until I get it and try it, but I'm hoping there are no complications. It does seem these units may not be plug and play like the ones on the earlier generation 65X0 units.

Final pricing I got was $55 for the part, $9 to ship plus tax. $68 all said and done. A bit more than I was hoping for, but then again I guess you expect to pay a little more than the upgrade price at build to do it after the fact. Will let everyone know how things turn out when I get it in hand.

    Finally got an order

That's expensive and if you are in the USA you should have received free shipping for any parts/accessory order over $49.

At any rate, the backlit KB is plug and play on every E6520 I have seen so your chances are good. ;)

Thanks for the tip, is the free shipping discretionary or SOP? Am a USA customer.

This guy drove me insane, I guess I was the first person to ever try to order a BL keyboard for a 6520 from him. Sigh...

I got a refurbished E6520 and just reinstalled Windows 7 64 bit on a 7200RPM drive (as it came with a 5400RPM drive, which I don't understand why they still sell).

My audio has a popping noise every time it's used. I get a pop when it comes on and a pop when it goes off. The audio driver turns on (pops), plays the sound and then turns off (pops).

My problem seems to be similar to wyvernshill's. However, I don't get skipping during music playback (through Windows Media Player).

I updated the BIOS and used all the latest drivers during the install. I'm wondering if it's System I/O related as that usually seems the culprit for this type of behavior.

    Specs:
    Core i7-2620M
    nVidia NVS4200
    Intel Centrino 6205
    Bluetooth 375 (Windows Drivers)
    Webcam, Proxcard & Fingerprint Reader

    ---EDIT 8/26/2011---
I noticed that the audio pop only happens when it's docked to an E/Port replicator. The external audio jack and built-in speakers do not have this problem.

Just got my E6520 from Dell outlet, waiting on my SSD to ship. I noticed Dell installed some pre-configured power profiles which have thermal control options, I am guessing this controls the fans. Does anybody know if I do a fresh install of Win 7 on SSD, will any of the software that's on dell support site will install these power profiles?.

Edit:nevermind, found it on dell site, it's called Dell Feature Enhancement Pack (DFEP).

For future E6520 owners:my E6520 came with recovery partition and also a DVD with windows 7 pro.

Does anyone know if e6520's esata port supports port multiplier? I want to connect an external hard drive enclosure that houses 2-4 hard drives.

    Hi

    My E6520 came with Win 7 32-bit, and only a 250g HD. I removed and put in a 500gig 7200rpm HD, and put on Win7 64-bit..

Pulled all the latest drivers straight off the dell site, using the service tag.. Everything in device manager is straight.

Anyway my problem is when rating the system using the Window Experience Index, the Memory (RAM) operations per second, has gone down to 5.9. It was 7.5 before on the 32-bit build.

I'm fortunate enough to have two E6520's at my disposal, so i switched out the DIMS and re-run the test, still the same score, so I even swapped out the actual HD's inbetween machines and re-run.. Still the same 5.9 on the 64-bit o/s and 7.5 on the 32-bit ??

So I re-formatted and rebuilt the 64-bit O/S again.. and still the same low score... I have laptops that are 18months old that are running a faster memory operations per second that this..

Been on with Dell, but not getting anywhere. Anyone else upgraded from 32-bit to 64-bit and noticed this weird problem ?

    Thanks in advance.

As a complete guess, it may be to do with having the maximum RAM available on a 32 bit system and therefore the test is based on how the hardware runs on a 32 or 64bit OS
