The expresscard slot supports pci-e 2.0 (5GT/s), but the USB component is USB 2.0. So it doesn't qualify to be an expresscard 2.0 (pci-e 2.0 + USB 3.0).

If you want USB 3.0 then any USB 3.0 expresscard will be able to function at 2.5GT/s which is a marked improvement over USB 2.0. Not sure if there are any pci-e 2.0 USB 3.0 cards on the market. Those would get full USB 3.0 speed.

If using USB 3.0 for storage devices then it will be hard to tell the difference b/w 2.5GT/s and 5GT/s as the storage devices 4KB read/write speeds cannot saturate even a 2.5GT/s interface.

So an expresscard slot in the e56520 has an expresscard 2.0 slot , not 1.0?

Guys, does anybody know which version of HDMI E6520 (with HD3000 only if it matters) has? I'm thinking about buying a projector with 3d support, but it requires HDMI 1.4, and afaik many notebooks don't have it. Is there any way to check it?

Another question, any news on Ivy Bridge support?

If your processor supports Intel's "InTru 3D" in it's spec list, then it supports HDMI 1.4. Sandy Bridge has native HDMI 1.4 support.

As far as IVB, do you mean chip support or HDMI support?

I've got i7-2620m, so it does support 1.4, but doesn't it need to be supported also by BIOS/motherboard etc.?

About Ivy Bridge I meant chip support.

All the video signals from the HD3000 come straight from the CPU/GPU package. The VBIOS on Sandy Bridge is on the CPU die along with the GPU, so if it's supported by the CPU model then it should work irregardless of the motherboard BIOS.

IVB CPU's aren't compatible with Sandy Bridge notebooks though. It requires a newer Intel ME firmware version, and HM67/QM67 aren't likely to get an update.
