That's going to be the case with every modern cpu. You won't see jack of a difference in normal tasks.

Caddy update - contacted newmodeus and they are currently designing a new caddy for the e6420 and plan to have it ready within 60 days.

Here is a pic of the way I am using it today. I really do not see a problem leaving it like this as long as it stays in the laptop and you don't swap it all the time.

I also have a WD Scorpio Black and they are both 9.5mm. Neither will fit with the top cover on.

I contacted newmodeus last week and they told me 60-90 days possibly sooner for a cradle. I will dremel out this top cover this weekend.

I also received a 6320 today. Nice size, screen sucks compared to the 6420, has a screen door affect.

I thought this was a pretty cool vid, you get to see a "exploded" view of latitude innards in part of it...nice to see the business specific chassis reinforcements and additions they did, even the stuff you cant see:

Windows 7 is no longer slipstreamable; you need an SP1 build. If you can get a non-OEM SP1 disk for the right edition, you can convert it to a Dell one by copying the sources\$oem$ directory over from the same edition of a Dell disk (this is easiest using the DVD-to-USB tool, but can be done on DVD.)

After going back and forth with Customer Service they are sending me a replacement E6420 next day shipping. I should have it Wednesday 4/13. I hope it's in better shape than the first one I got. I can't return it since my company is just a reseller. I was thinking about doing something with the credit card company, but if I burn our Dell account....that is 100x worse! So I'm going to embrace this machine. There are things I like about it....two finger scroll is the best! Off to get a Crucial C300 256GB I think.

On another note....How much was the 3 cell media battery? I was going to pick up a main 9 cell, but rather keep the 6 cell since it does not stick out.

Additional 3 cell was 75 Euro.
Additional 9 cell was 110 Euro.
    Both prices excluding tax.

I don't know, I was just wondering if getting the rugged version could be a way to avoid this problem.

Yes ! Thanks for noting it (I'm not a native english speaker and thought I might have erroneously formulated my question) !
