Does anyone use a dock and multiple monitors? I have my E6420 docked and two 2410 LCD's connected. It does not display any post information or Windows loading screens. They only become active once it is at the login screen.

    Optimus issue I would assume?

    My impressions:

Completely silent on idle and light office use - great
Only very moderate noise with 1080p decoding - great
    Adequately cool
    Fast

Aprox 10-11 hours battery life with light usage:
97wh, with ssd corsair nova 128Gb (low power sdd), i5 5420, intel gfx, 1x2Gb, screen x768, no bluetooth, dimmed, wifi on, surfing explorer 9 with no add ons, power save mode. Only very light usage.

Sandybridge is the best processor from Intel i had since the core duo, and i had them all. Excellent work from the Haifa team again. This is just way better than the former burning i5m 32nm, power granularity controlling in world class.

Looks like plastic and looks is boring - (is it boring at home Dell??), and yes the orange piece looks just as stupid in real life, build quality: yes pop open very little and then make noise when you tap top plate righ buttom.

    Very good keyboard and keypad.

I am very satisfied, the best laptop i have had in my hand

    Hello Ziuck,

Is the E6420 in the picture carrying a 6 or 9 cell battery??? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I know your question is not directed toward me, but that's the 9 cell battery. The 6 cell is a perfect fit.

Hi Kramer, thanks for your thoughts! I just want to make sure: in your opinion Intel i5 32nm processors are "burning", yet Sandybridge CPU's are great - but I'll receive an E6420 with a Sandybridge i5 2520M processor... "excellent work" or "burning"?

    Cheers

I have two 24" Dell U2410 panels connected to a dock via Display Port and they do the same thing. The monitors stay in standby until the Windows login screen. Lame.

So, your bottom cover pops off as well, and you don't care?

The new ones - sandy bridge i5 2520 is the great ones, the old i5 430/560 was bad on battery power consumption under normal office load.

So you have something good to look forward to for great portability, low heat and no noise:)
