I was going for the 6510... after handling both, I went for the 6410.

On paper the weight of both is not so different... in person, it is very noticeable.

Then again, had I never picked up a 6410, I doubt if I'd be unhappy with the 6510. I'd much rather have the 6410 in my lap... for sure.

I perform light development (web and computer installers) and graphics work on my laptops... not much work. Desktop still remains key for me.

Bottom line for me was the 6410 is a computer I'd WANT to take with me... 6510 would be a computer I'd take when I had to... much like my inspiron (which weights much more than either).

    Depends on the version.

Display Port 1.0 is video only

Display Port 1.1 (which is what the E64xx/E65xx has), is video AND audio. But audio is optional in the specs, but it is supported on the mentioned laptop.

Display Port 1.2 brand new. It will support video, audio, and support: USB and daisy chain, allowing multiple monitor support from 1 plug.

so the e6410 can be hooked up to the tv with just one cable and sound is there?

is it plain stereo, or what is put out? or does it depend on the source (which it does of course), what I mean is, can it output 5.1/surround/multichanel, etc? (whatever that is called...)

    Correct.

HDMI is based on Display port 1.1, but they put audio as obligotory and changed just enougth to claim it's their (Hitachi, Matsua Electric Industrial (Panasonic), Philips, Silicon Image, Sony, RCA, and Toshiba) own so that they charge high royalty fees.

Because of this, Display Port can be converted with a simple adapter to HDMI. You just need to make sure that the adapter carries audio, and doesn't exclude them.

It depends on your TV, computer (sound card), video you play on it, and the codec you use.

    It must be noted:
    - HDMI is seperating itself by focusing on home entertainmenet, while Display Port is focusing on computers and slowly replacing DVI (see Display Port 1.2, and HDMI 1.4 where Ethernet is included, something that computer monitor really don't need.)

I just got the new E6410 yeterday, however I met a terrible latency for my new system. I have to litsen music with a very big nosie caused by latency. I try to install new nvs3100m vedio card driver downloaded from nvidia website, but I can not install it because this driver not include dell's 3100m. Then I try to install a clear windows xp system without any driver, the latency is great good. later I will try to install driver each one by one to find the reason.

Hi guys, its been a while since I've been on the forums. I have an e6400. Wondering about the differences between the E6410 and E6400. I know the E6410 uses the newer intel Chipsets and i5/i7 CPU's, but are there any other differences to the design?
