It should.. but I want to rule out an unsupported GPU due to that the Latitude E6410 GPU was released much after the latest version of Nvidia performance tool.

Oh, and also they are new laptop drivers, version 256.15 beta, for Vista and Win7 32/64-bit.

Ok. I tried loading your config but nTuneCmd gives me an error

    Code:
Error! System configuration changed! You are trying to load a profile that was
saved on a different system configuration.

Does anyone has a Thinkpad T-Series and a Latitude E64x0 and could place an impression about how they compare in terms of keyboard, touchpad and trackpoint? I have to upgrade my TPad SL400, Dell has better service in my country but I am really accustomed to Thinkpad's input...

    Tks

Thanks to this thread.... I purchased a E6410. Was going for the E6510 until I saw both of them side by side tonight. The E6410 is more than what I need, in a very light package. I was surprised by how light the computer felt.

Then again, after carrying around an Inspiron 1520 for three years, anything feels light!

Went with Dell since the price undercut the LenovoT410 and HP 8440. Not to mention, it came with a HP mini 10 which I can easily sell for $220 if I want (not sure if I'm going to keep it).

And the Warranty on the Dell vs. the hp and lenovo pushed me as well. Not to mention I've had no issues with my Inspiron.

Why upgrade? I need a laptop with a TPM. The flash drive with bitlocker is killing me (tried truecrypt, it sssssllllllooooowwwweeeedddd my system down)... the 1520 weights a ton. Bottom line, I need a new toy. :D

    My order:

Total $1,298.27 (with taxes and shipping)

    Dell Inspiron 1010
    Intel Atom Processor Z530, 1.6GHz
    1GB RAM
10.1 Inch High Definition Widescreen Display (1366x768)
    160GB, 2.5inch, 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive (will try it with a 250 gb 7200)
XP Home Edition SP3 (will put Win 7 Pro or maybe Ultimate)

    Dell Latitude E6410

Intel Dual Core vPro i7-620M, 2.66GHz
    4.0GB, DDR3-1066 SDRAM
    Internal Backlit English Keyboard
512MB NVIDIA NVS 3100M with ExpressCard
Wide Screen WXGA+ LED, Dell Latitude E6410
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium (will put Ultimate 64-bit)
Dell Wireless 1520 802.11a/b/g/n Half Mini Card
    6-cell (60Wh) Primary Battery
    3-year warranty is killer
Ordered the 7200, 250 gb hd... will try, but more than likely replace with the Momentus XT 320 GB... Receiving rave reviews (SSD and Regular HD mix)...
    http://www.amazon.com/Seagate-Momen...1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1274842975&sr=8-1

And I need a new backpack... something like my old one... blank and shows no sign it is a laptop bag. I have time to look...

I ended up creating a bootable USB similar to in other posts and had no problems upgrading the BIOS in DOS.

The only problem is that once in a while when I try to wake from sleep, I'll open the lid and immediately the PC will reboot without any warning, it just loses power or something and starts up saying Windows shutdown incorrectly (obviously).

That has happened once before the BIOS upgrade and once since.

Does anyone notice that there is no camera lense cover for the webcam.. This is not a very big deal to me but there seems to be a arc kinda thing righ below the camera lense almost covering the bottom edge. Anyway, my camera seems to be working just fine just wanted to see if everyone else's is the same.

Yes, I’m two weeks into a Dell E6400 after having used a T41 for the last 6 years. I want the T41 back. It was much slower, but worked a hell of a lot better. The E6400 is slow to boot, slow to wake up from sleeping, bluescreens, and uses a LOT of memory with nothing at all running. Also, there is no such thing as idling on this machine, I can be doing absolutely nothing and it is always running 10-20% CPU usage. This is stock out-of-the-box behavior.

Now onto the trackpad, which I still can’t stand. I have tried everything to make it work better. Replaced drivers, disabled the advanced functionality, I still can’t make it work nearly as well as the Thinkpads. The E6400 has some ‘advanced features’ that enable scrolling and zooming, but I have them all disabled to make it work somewhat well. It does not have pressure sensitive scrolling which I miss the most. On the Thinkpad, I could push harder and make it scroll faster, this POS does not do that. Also, you can’t use both sets of buttons when using the trackpad. If you use the buttons above the pad, it causes the pad to hesitate for about 2-3 seconds after the button is pressed (This bugs me the most). I had used the top buttons on the time on the thinkpad. While I’m at it, the Thinkpad’s buttons were better thought out. The buttons above the pad are raised and the ones below the pad curved around the base a tiny bit, making it easier to hit with your thumb. E6400 are flat as a pancake and not as easy to press. The last terribly annoying thing about the trackpad, is it causes the cursor to jump around while typing. I don’t know if I’m hitting it while typing, I don’t think so, but it happens ALL the time, and I never had the problem on the T41

If I had never used the superior Synaptics trackpad, I may not be so disappointed in the crappy Alps dell trackpad.

I can’t stand this thing… we have a bunch of other Latitudes at work and they all suck in one way or the other, many loose network connectivity after the screen saver comes on, overheating problems, sleep and wake-up problems. These are not cheap machines, but they suck.

I forgot to mention, the trackpoint works well. I have been trying to get myself to use that exclusively. The keyboard is ok, same IMHO. The ESC key is a bit small and hard to hit when using the vi editor all the time.

Earlier it was suggested having both a WWAN card and Latitude ON Flash was not possible on the E6410. In fact it is possible, I have a new E6410 in front of me configured with Intel WiFi Link 6300 1/2 Mini-Card + DW5620 2000 Multi-Mode Gobi MB Mini-Card + Latitude ON Flash. i5-520M with Intel graphics.

Seems that the E6410 (i5-520) fan runs constantly and at a higher level at idle compared to my new E6510 (i5-540). Both have Intel graphics and A01 BIOS.
