for the price the e6410 would definitely be a better choice. Better GPU options and a lower price. It only about a pound and a half more than the e4310

Thanks for the great feedback. No question that the e6410 is a great machine. But it's heavy for sequent travel. So a follow up comparison:

    e4300 vs Sony Z

I have the exact same setup as you (except for the hdd). I notice random stuttering for about a minute or so after logging in. It also happens while having the Dell ControlPoint software open and continues for a few moments after closing it. I haven't had my e6410 long enough to test other things but it works normally during internet browsing at least. Could be related to some hardware communications from Dell services disrupting the mouse communication. I'm running 7 Professional 64 bit.

There is a long thread here with stuttering problems with Win7 64. May or may not be related

Windows 7 RTM 64-bit mouse freezes/stutters multiple times per minute

Thanks for the link, I will check latency and some drivers.
I have some real problem with bluetooth. I'm trying to sync a mouse but it won't install the service for it, I tried with multiple mouse, this drive me crazy..
reinstalled drivers and applications many time, it's a hit and miss..
I have a cheap acer extensa 5239e that lock a Bluetooth mouse in no time..

i just got my latitude e6410 and the POS is broken out of the box. the left shift key on my illuminated keyboard is loose on the left side to the point where it just pops completely off the keyboard.

luckily, dell has agreed to send me a new keyboard for me to install myself. this reminds me why i bought a dell :) although the keyboard in general is a little spongy for my taste, the backlight is nice and i will probably get used to the feel of the keys

Also, the DPC latency is pretty terrible. This is most likely due to some asinine dell driver and I am very tempted to try a fresh install of windows to fix it.

Once you re-install, install driver by driver to see which one causes any latency issues. If none and the problem is solved, than it's probably an older driver somewhere that caused the latency issue, which has now been fixed.

My first suspect would be the Intel storage driver. I installed the latest one on my E6400 and am seeing a regular (~10s) spike. I'll roll back to the earlier driver when I have time and see if the problem goes away.

Edit: I've checked both my E6400 and E4300 which are both running Intel storage driver 9.6. The E6400 has spikes every 10s which were in the red zone but dropped into the yellow zone after a reboot. The E4300 shows no spikes at all.
