Does anyone know when the touchpanels will be available for M4700/M6700?

For me, Bluetooth was supported out-of-the-box on Windows 8 (64-bit), I didn't have to install a driver. The unknown device is probably the freefall sensor. The driver for that is available from Dell. (I think they have a Bluetooth driver posted, too.) Another tricky one is the Intel Management Engine which shows up as a "PCI simple communications controller" before the driver is installed (though I think they have a driver for it on Windows Update now).

Pro support guarantees you'll talk to tech support people in your own country. I'm not sure but I think it might also cover software issues. When I ordered my M6700, I asked about the difference and wasn't convinced that the extra cost of pro support was worth it, but my rep thought it was such a good idea that he upgraded me to it for free.

I know here in the US if you request to talk to a rep here in the US they have to transfer you. A while back I called in and got someone from Philippines. I made a requested for them to transfer me to rep here in the US. At first they did not want to, but when I told them It is a Federal Law it was done very quickly after I stated that to them.

My M6700 came today. I was a little bit too excited to get it but once everything was turned on the wireless speed were terrible. After calling tech support we discovered that one of the antenna wires was damaged. Technical support said the repair would be rather extensive and suggested I call customer care for a replacement system. It took about 20 minutes but Dell is now sending me a new M6700 and will send a label to take the old one back. I must be the unluckiest person in the world but good on Dell to make things right.

Someone with a covet edition might be able to help me out here, the Dell reps don't seem to know. Is the screen just the anti glare IPS with a glass cover, or is it a true glossy screen? I have an NEC IPS display at home now, it's also an anti glare screen. That's all I have to go off.

Either way how do you like the screen? I'm leaning towards the non Covet because I'm worried about screen glare.

Went back through your old posts. Saw that you ordered the Dell Gobi 3000 WWAN card as a spare part when you could not order it with the M6700.

If you are having wireless speeds with the Dell Gobi 3000 WWAN card, you do not have a broken antenna. You have a compatibility issue. Dell sending you a new machine is not going to fix the problem.

If you are having wireless speeds with wireless networking, let me know which card you ordered. I have used the Intel 6300 and it is great.

Bokeh, thanks for helping out. The one of the antenna leads heading to the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card is physically damaged in the laptop. It looks like the robot (or human) that built the laptop pulled the wires too hard against the chassis and stripped it. Dell tech support, after seeing a picture of it, said that fixing the issue would require disassembling the display to switch out the new wires. Instead of doing that they are just sending a new unit.

This is above and beyond the call of duty by Dell. I suspect this is an item that was missed by their QC measures so they want to get the unit back for an inspection. Either way I am happy.

I did try the Dell Gobi 3000 card in the M6700 and it works flawlessly. Again, I appreciate the help.

    Hello everyone,

I have ordered M6700 (3740QM+ATI+IPS) and now have to buy memory. I am still not convinced I have to have 32GB (but pretty sure about 16GB) and it is also about selecting 1600/1866MHz and CAS 9/10. Did anybody try 4 x 8Gb 1866 modules? Is there a significant performance drop when going to 32GB 1600/CAS10 from 16GB 1600/CAS9? From 16GB 1866/CAS10?

    Thanks!

Corsair just came out with the Vengeance kit which is the first 8GB 1866Mhz SODIMM on the mass market. I just ordered 2 packages of 2 SODIMMs for a total of 32GB. I will have them on Tuesday and can test them in the M6700.

    Newegg.com - CORSAIR Vengeance Performance 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 Laptop Memory Model CMSX16GX3M2A1866C10

At the moment, I have 4 of the Kingston HyperX 4GB 1866Mhz SODIMMS and they work great in the M6700.

    Newegg.com - Kingston HyperX 8GB (2 x 4GB) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1866 HyperX Plug n Play Laptop Memory Model KHX1866C11S3P1K2/8G

Finally, I have 4 of the Crucial 8GB 1600Mhz SODIMMs and they also work fine in the M6700. I will probably return these with the 45-day window if the Corsair modules work.

    16GB kit (8GBx2), 204-pin SODIMM, DDR3 PC3-12800 upgrades for Dell Precision M6700 (4 SODIMMs) Laptop/Notebook, CT3397240 from Crucial.com

As for performance gains... in synthetic benchmarks these things can be seen but I haven't been able to tell the difference in my real-world usage. Your mileage may vary.
