Ohh no, I use external display 90% of the time, and POST on external monitor is important. how about A05 bios? (does that exist?)

Just installed A06 here. Set the boot to minimal.

From power button press to W7 login screen:

    A02 - 26.2 seconds
    A06 - 21.4 seconds

Guessing the 5 seconds was the initial Dell Splash Screen.

Had this problem with an M6600 yesterday, display would only show off the VGA port despite having the setting to Computer only. A couple of reboots solved the problem. It had been sitting idle for quite a few days with the power unplugged for some reason.

I just encountered my first bit of weirdness. Hibernate has stopped working. I know that it was working, but now the screen just goes blank and it never hibernates. I found this out by leaving the computer sleeping and unplugged, and when I went to use it, the battery was completely drained. It turns out that instead of hibernating after 2 hours of sleep (the default) it woke up. I was actually able to resolve the hibernate issue by assigning a drive letter to the hidden "recovery" partition, but I would like to know what caused the problem and if it is indicative of something more insidious.

I tried the standard things such as ensuring that "hiberfil.sys" exists and turning hibernation on and off. The only thing that has worked was to assign a drive letter to the hidden partition.

Ultimately, I will probably disable hibernate, but I would like to know if this is a symptom of a larger issue. The only software that I have installed that could possibly be responsible is "Paragon Hard Disk Manager 12".

Just curious. Why did you choose

    5 year pro service

    vs

    5 Year Basic + Accidental?

newegg has a 25% off memory sale going on:

    CORSAIR Vengeance 16GB (2 x 8G) 204-Pin DDR3 SO-DIMM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Laptop Memory Model CMSX16GX3M2A1600C10

    for about $67.49

32 GB would cost about $135 and for a cas 10 memory, its not bad.

Over and above a lot of members were happy with this memory for M6700.

5 year basic warranty isn't an option here, 5 years warranty only comes with ProSupport (at least in the Netherlands).

Why didn't I choose accidental? I'm very careful with any of my equipment, so it didn't seem necessary to me.

Anyway, so far I'm really happy with the computer, it's very well built.
