There were a few other laptops that had this tech I've seen a sold alienware and I think an inspiron but I don't remember the cards they used and of course they were probably the native cards they came with. I'm not interested in the tech for my use but it's a nice add-on for resale purposes later on, like the 120hz 17" screen. I'd take out the 3dvision rf emitter and put an msata ssd for OS purposes too. Unless I'm playing way old games I don't think there's a card I can put in here that would get close to 120fps as well lol Target is an m4/5000m or 970/980m later on when I get all the extra parts sold that don't carry over from my dead m6700. Stuck with a k4000m I'll OC for now. I'd probably keep the k4000m and reinstall it for resale later on so the 3dvision tech would be available to the next owner.

Will a quadro p4000 work in the m6700?

Pascal cards must be flashed with an engineering sample vBIOS in another system before they will work with the M6700. There are details about this in the M6800 GPU upgrade thread on this board. However, a key difference is that you can boot Linux with a Pascal card on the M6800; you cannot do this on the M6700, it locks up at the BIOS before it gets to the OS boot phase.

Oh that sucks bc there are some really good deals for that vs. the perf. Nah I'm just inf modding or maybe a vbios flash but not that heavy duty of a user. I did read through that other thread in your sig about the p5000 upgrades and @TheQuentincc experience with it. Sounds way too much for my skills. Are the 1060/1070's easier like nvflash or inf modding only in win10?

1060/1070 is even worse because there is no working vBIOS for it. @JEAMN got one to work by doing some crazy BIOS stuff... This would also be harder in the M6700 because you can't boot Linux.

Looks like a dead end, my plan is to sell as much of the left over stuff from my old m6700 and what I don't need from the new one and hopefully get enough back to make an even trade for a 970m/m4000m at least. 32gb ram should get me back a bit and the k4000m should go a bit further. Charger and lvds screen should throw some more in the pot it all adds up but it will take a while. I guess in reality I've already done it with the sale of the old 3940xm alone, for a 970m at least. XM versions go for so much more.

If your LVDS panel is the 1080p LG panel and it has no defects (dead/stuck pixels, artifacts, or visible debris behind the outer panel layer) then I would be interested in purchasing it from you to have as a spare. :)
(I'm picky about the display panel as you can see from my post on page 4 of this thread, and they have now become just about impossible to purchase. I tried an AUO panel which I got from eBay and it was terrible by comparison.)

It's still in the body atm for storage. I want to get the new one and see that I can handle the glossy screen or not. I've seen some of the 3d screens for sale that say they can either do matte or glossy so who knows. I'm not sure what brand it is it's been a couple years since I switched it, I'd have to take it out. I never had any problems with it and it's matte 1080p/60hz. You'd have to be in the lower 48 usa though, intl is a pain.

Edit: I do remember that there was one dead pixel on the right hand side about midway. I think it was just black though and I never noticed it unless focusing on it. Dang have to either plug it into my new one or sell it as for parts I guess. I did take some pics a while back let me see if I can find them.

honestly, P4000/P5000 are easy to install in the M6700, I believe the P5000 of aaron was defective.
If you are located in EU, I'm gonna soon sell my P4000 :)

So all it is is plug in and inf modding then? I don't have the expertise or equipment to flash it outside the computer. I could only do nvflash when installed and I've done inf modding but that's it. I'd be using some form of win10, once I see that I want to keep it I'd change to LTSC 1809.

I am having my new used m6700 with the 3dvision screen which I think is edp delivered this week. I also could convert to lvds with my old screen/cable.

No I'm in the US but there's someone here selling them for $200 which is just too good to pass up.

Here's some of the info the seller put up there, looks like edp only which I should have with the 3dvision screen.

"Quadro P4000 MXM supports DisplayPort, HDMI, eDP, DVI, but does not support LVDS and VGA display."
