All right - I'll leave the BIOS alone since it does it's job ok.

I think I'll try the GTX970m then, but what makes me worried a bit is the drivers - for my current setup it was a mess until I've found how to install the card. I am thinking of the upgrade though, because the system is throttling under current pressure and I believe I am reaching the PSU limits as well with the XM CPU and 880m combo.

Any clues about that mSATA drive?

One more question - what is that eDP thing? I have it right next to the LCD panel connector and it looks the same...

Yes, I think that set should be fine.

The eDP port is for the 10-bit IPS display that was originally offered an an option in the M6700.

Or, it could work if he'd find the RGB LED screen (or the whole assembly) and upgrade to it. The Optimus support would be gone, of course.

My m6700 is now running a GTX970m and it is way better than the 880m I was using before, mainly because of lower power consumption and better temperatures.

 

New BIOS to address the Intel vulnerability is up today.

 

Same question here. I do some research on Google and many sites for the information about R9 M290X on Precision M6700 if it works or not but still no luck (some users confirmed it worked, but some users said they've got black screen when install R9 M290X on M6600). There're alot of good deals on ebay about 4G DDR5 R9 M290X pulled from Alienware. I'm not worry too much about the perfomance since I've seen many videos on Youtube about the R9 M290X. And of course the R9 M290x's gaming performance is better than K4000, even if compares to K5000.
I think it's now the best budget under 200$ GPU upgrade for M6700.
