Good luck with that; and I hope you get your answer. But its stories of buggieness like these that caused me to ignore the whole thing from the beginning. Never used card reader or fingerprint scanner on any of my machines. Hope someone can help you though.

Thank you. I agree, it's a mess. I managed to get the fingerprint scanner working, but without the dell software, only the broadcom application. Same for the contactless smart card reader last night, using the ushradiomode64.exe. But now I ran into the missing smart card driver issue.
Will see, it's great that even Dell is not able to provide some usefull information.

Not a good thing. And sorry to hear that. For people that use and depend on this thing it should work as expected.

I chose to ignore mine but that's no excuse for it not working. Anyway, hope things work out and do let us know if you find a solution to this problem.

Has anyone tried the newer NVidia drivers to see if the screen dimming bug is fixed yet?

(The bug where when you are on the battery, the screen dims when it's mostly dark and brightens when it's mostly white. As of a few months ago, nobody has been able to determine why it happens or how to fix it, although driver 311 was the last version that does not have the problem)

Sticking with driver 311.10 still until there is an update that fixes it!

Been discussed for a while, gamma or brightness changes on battery with any new nVidia drivers with IPS screen and K5000.

    EDIT:

I put my laptop on battery the other day to look for this anomaly and it seems that I missed detecting it before. As I change my browser pages the screen adjust its brightness depending on the predominate amount. of white on the page.

I didn't' check for exact percentages, but with white interfaces it does indeed brighten and dim on darker color ones.

    Hi all.

I'd like to buy an additional harddrive - does anyone know if it's compatible with the newest 3 TB 2.5 S-ATA ? or would the 750 GB that they indicated in the specsheet two years ago be the maximum?

    thanks
