    @RCB

    That was my first guess, too; But the Nvidia is activated in the preferences; at least it's indicated like that; do you know if there's an outside PS possibility to check if the Nvidia is working or not? the device-manager says it works well;

    @Krane

    I have 8 GB with 800 MHZ, and have given 5 GB from that to Photoshop; there are no warnings ever;

    I just odered 16 GB 1866 MHZ, and will just make a try if that changes something; The problem occurs also when I have only two pictures open, and that's not much; So if nothing helps, I'd possibly upgrade to the K5000M ... though it doesn't seem to be a really large step from the K4000M;

    Thanks for your input

    Actually, I was referring to Vram, but I see that its 4 GB. And you're right about the K5000, the difference here would be negligible. What you have should be more than sufficient, and you shouldn't be having this issue. As mentioned above, you need to verify your settings/card. Something I neglected to consider since my card is always on. Something is definitely wrong.

    I would guess, maybe go into the BIOS and disable Optimus. This should have the effect of forcing the use of the Nvidia graphics.

    Do you still have the factory installed windows and do you use HDD's or SSD's?

    I have an IPS screen, so there is no optimus to disable;

    what I wondered about was: a) "itel virtualizsation technology" and b) "intel turbo boost" - the latter seems to effect the GPU too;

    As soon as the new HD is here, I want to do a complete new installation anyway, and then let's see if the problem possibly has resolved itself;

    thank you all for your input!

    Turbo Boost should have no effect on the GPU. NVidia has something similar where the GPU clocks are adjusted depending on load, but the K5000M should be rock solid at its default clocks, NVidia clocked it to be stable rather than trying to squeeze the most performance out of it at the cost of stability.

    Intel virtualization technology will not have any effects either unless you are somehow running PS in a virtual machine which would be ill advised anyways. The virtualization tech won't even kick in unless you are running a virtual machines. Your CPU simply has the virtualization features that other mobile CPUs may not have that will allow a VM more direct access to parts of the hardware.

    Totally unrelated to aki-108's issues, I am about to install Hyper-V Client on my M6700 (comes with Windows 8.1 Pro) because I need to run a 32-bit version of Windows thanks to an old program I find myself in need of using. The darn thing (from 1992) has 16-bit executables. 16-bit executables sheesh. I have another program that is one year older and the programmers were smart enough to have it all in 32-bit. Well, it does say the program is meant for an IBM PC or compatible which kinda made me laugh when I was going through the manual.

    Something else, I just found out that the free fall sensor was still enabled on my M6700, it has now been disabled since there's no point with a SSD. Actually, I'm surprised it didn't disable itself by default like it does on HP laptops. Those of us with only SSDs in their M6700 might want to check that out and disable it. Those with HDDs should keep it enabled, I have never triggered the sensor while carrying the laptop anyways, unlike some MacBook pros where the fall sensor is a bit too sensitive if you ask me.

    The i7-3940xm is the fastest CPU that can go in the M6700, not much of a difference with your i7-3740qm.

    Hello, I'm trying to rebuild my M6700 using a Crucial C300 256GB SSD. The M6700 originally shipped with Win8 on a HDD. I bought a new OEM Win7 disk and am recycling the Crucial C300 SSD from my older M6500. The SSD currently has the OS and drivers for the M6500 and would run the M6500 were it installed.

    1. Changed the BIOS in the M6700 to AHCI
    2. Installed the SSD in slot 1
    3. Booted F12 with the Win7 DVD.

    Error is "No Bootable devices - strike F1 to reboot, F2 for setup utility. Press F5 to run onboard diagnostics".

    I still have the intact Win8 OS on the original HDD to use as needed. What can I do to install this SSD as the primary boot drive? Thanks!

    You mean you couldn't boot from the DVD? Make sure legacy options are enabled in the M6700 BIOS and that secure boot is off. If those weren't, then try again.

    Hi guys
    anybody has some experience to access to a nas with speed > 125mb/s ? (the limit of gigabit lan). I'd like to try this and I have to use the link aggregation. My nas has 4 lan. The M6700, as we know, only one. To get the lan aggregation also on PC I need a double lan. I believe I could use an USB3 lan to link with the internal M6700 lan. Do you have any idea of some brand and model that could help me? anyone already tried something like that?
    thankss!
    ciao
