    Hey there,

I recently bought an m6700 workstation without bluetooth. I ordered the Bluetooth 380 module + cable separately, but now am curious - where do I connect it?

Thanks very much in advance for the help!

Grab the manual on Dell's website. Make sure to read it completely, there are two places where they say the module is located and one of those is actually a leftover from the M6600's manual. I can't remember which location is the right one, but I do remember that it'll be pretty obvious if you check for both.

EDIT: found it, in another thread:

For the past two days I have been getting this -- Do not shut down computer updating in progress -- waning. The problem is, it stays there for hours. The first time I let it go for 12 hours. The second time 8! bot times I ended up disconnecting the power without any reduction in computer performance. This has been the only problem that has plagued my system since I got it.

I don't like disconnecting the power against a warning but I find it annoying that Windows doesn't offer some kind of gauge, clock, or indicator estimates for how long these updates/maintenance will last.

Any ideas why this may be occurring and/or how long Windows needs to correct it?

It sounds to me like you have a windows update that went bad. If possible, I would go back to a restore point before the latest patch tuesday and re-update from there.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try that tomorrow if the shut down hang again tonight. If there's any huge complaint I could make about Windows, it would be this.

hi guys. I really need your help here.

I have a M6700 (yes for me it the best workstation so far). One day when I turn on my M6700, the fan rotates for a sec and then halt. The HDD LED shows for a sec and then halt. The laptop is not enable, though the keyboard light still show. I've tried to turn it on serveral times but it didn't work. Then on the next day, the laptop was enable normally. I did a check using Dell Diagnostic but all the hardware was fine. However, after some normal turn on, the previous situation happened. My laptop was be able to turn on some more several times; but now it cannot turn on. I remember there was a screw felt out of the laptop. Was it the reason? Or does this series have any special error regarding to this?

Thanks for your help. To Moderators: Please ignore this message. This is the question for the M6700 only :(

Edit: Oh I forgot about this. It is a little bit off topic; but I found the PO Number on my M6700 box. Is that the Order Number that Dell Warranty requires for?

For warranty service, Dell will want the service tag, which should be on a sticker on the underside of your machine.

Well if you're looking for a solution you didn't give enough information for that. It the laptop components all OEM?

Anyway, the best solution is to simply send it in for warranty repairs. Now that you've introduced the problem to the forum. Please update us as to the results of your repair.

Did an initial roll back to the earliest update and no change. Tried it a second time to the limit, and all my latest updates program installations went away. I first noticed something funny when my browser became sluggish. I would click on links with no effect. I kept having to refresh to get it to load.

I also noticed that my anti virus had been deactivated. When I tried a reactivation it, it wouldn't load due to an system incompatibility. I tried Windows protection instead and it refused to load as well.

I ended up having to reinstall my anti virus along with a number of my other programs that had stopped working and all appear to be functioning normally since. I have not seen the
Windows is performing processes, your system will turn off when they are complete,

on log off any more, but its only been a few days which is the typical interval it would disappear and come back before.

If it happens again, I'm not sure what to do since I have no more roll back dates left. Hopefully its fixed, and as of right now all programs and functions appear to be working normally.

One more thing, for anyone with an external monitor. Do you turn you monitor off when you shut down or leave it in standby? Does leaving it in standby hurt the monitor or is it best to turn it off when not in use?

On more thing, I noticed it takes about twice as long to boot when attached to the external monitor via DP++ as compared to when it boots connected to another VGA monitor or unconnected. Should I be worried about this delay or is that normal for a QHD monitor? Thanks

It's right next to the keyboard, right side. You just need to take the keyboard frame out (just pull it out slowly using your fingernails). The mini card should be screwed next to the numeric Enter key and there's a connection slot next to the USB ports.

I had a problem where I've kept my bluetooth adapter turned off separately via the bluetooth tray application, but then after a while the software stopped running. And the latest one can't be installed without it recognizing an active bluetooth module. This catch-22 situation was fortunately resolved by replugging the card which reset it's off setting I guess.

    Hi guys,

Any ideas where can I order the dual heat pipe sink? My temperatures are going higher (even after blowing out dust), so I thought to re-paste it anyway.

    Thanks!
