Have you been able to contact anyone at Dell, at the company or on these forums, about this issue and see if they even know the problem exists?

No, I haven't taken that measure yet. (Not enough hours in the day... and in the end, things are working fine with the older drivers.)

If anyone else is experiencing the issue and would like to take a stab at it, I'd love to hear what feedback you get. You can point to this thread and indicate that there are plenty of people with this problem.

Which older drivers are you using that doesn't have the issue?

    Hi,

I'm considering getting an M6700 today but I have one question if anyone could please help me.

I tried the 1920x1080 resolution at stores for 17 displays, but it's just too small. I think 1600x900 would be ideal for me (I prefer 1680x1050, but 1600x900 is all that's available.) Can anyone here who owns a 1600x900 screen let me know:

    1. Any display issues (crosshatching, and another issue I've seen on a Alienware, for a lack of a better technical term, see little dots on the screen?)

    2. How is the horizontal / vertical viewing angles?

    Thanks a lot in advance!

This is so bizarre... The problem is easily bypassed in the 8770w (K4000) and M6700 (670MX)...

I'm not sure there is a NBR member with a M6700 with the 1600x900 display. You may get replies, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much.

OK, thanks for your reply -- gr. I have two old D830 Latitude Laptops with 1680x1050 which are great, but C2D and 2GB RAM, and one monitor is flickering after 6 years of use and one M4400 (1440x900, my favorite res on a 15" monitor...I tried 1920x1080 on the M4700 but returned it, no matter how much scaling/tweaking, I didn't like it, certain UI elements become fuzzy and some don't adjust at all.) I was going to buy it at the dell outlet, but they go so fast, that the only units usually available are the 1920x1080 displays.

I haven't seen the 1600x900 monitor but I know that early on we found out that the specs are lower than the FHD display. In particular, I know that brightness is not as good (220 nits vs. 300 nits). Not sure if color is also impacted. This will be discussed in more detail somewhere in the preliminary details thread.

Pretty sure colors aren't going to be as good either, 17" 1600x900 panels are usually bottom of the barrel stuff. Set the scaling to 125% on a 17" 1080p display and things should be ok. You will find some quirks with the UI of third party apps, but 125% shouldn't make those quirks UI breaking at all.
