My 3820QM won't hit 4.0 GHz... I wonder if the 3X40's behave differently than the 3X20's here.

I was surprised to say the least. Maybe it's a glitch with HWinfo? Here's the screen grab.

If you can make out the max column in the jpg, all four cores are over 4ghz.

Edit: I've tried to catch a screen grab as HWinfo actually shows all four cores go red, and hit 4.0ghz in real time, but can't seem to get it. All I've got as proof is the pic showing the 'max' column registering 4.0+ghz on all 4 cores.

Has anyone contacted any Dell reps on this forum or at Dell about this issue? Have they said anything, even at least if it's a known bug?

Try monitoring with Intel XTU or Throttlestop, I don't know if it is still the case, but HWiNFO had problems reporting CPU clocks on the first gen of core i CPUs, so the problem might still be there.

    Hi Guys

After having numerous problems with my M6700 Precision workstation I have been given the opportunity to do the following. Fix my M6700 or get a new M6800 (Specs Shown Below OPTION A or OPTION B

What I was wondering is do you think the Options for the M6800 are as good as the M6700 I have now and if so which option would you go with OPTION A or B?

Any help would be much appreciated

    Thanks,
    Jason

Well, you'll loose on the display front. Hardware wise you're getting a boost in performance, so if the IPS display isn't a must, you could go with either.

Yeah I know that's what sucks. It's such a shame they don't have an IPS option for a professional workstation like the M6800.

I only used the default settings in premiere color with the IPS screen on my M6700 so would that be equivalent to the non touch screen that is in the M6800. I found any other profile like sRGB or Full caused a lot of banding in gradients and stuff so I just
    used the default settings.

    Thanks for the reply

afaik, the default setting on the Premiercolor is aRGB, i.e., wide gamut, so no, not the same as the default in (any) M6800 screen.

Correct me if I'm wrong but, WLED FHD operates at 70% or 90% sRGB. Installing Premier onto it can't change that because profiles for IPS aren't installed.
